In an interview withThe Hollywood Handle, Snyder was asked about his favoriteRebel Moonscene to shoot. Snyder explained his favorite scene is an important action sequence with Kora that occurs early on in the story of both the original and director’s cut of the firstRebel Moonfilm. He broke down why he enjoyed shooting this scene so muchand shared his enthusiasm for how the scene ultimately looked in the director’s cut. Check out Snyder’s explanation below:

Rebel Moon Part one movie poster

Kora fighting the guys in the barn, killing all the Imperial guys in the barn. That felt old school. It was like old school fighting and shooting and really just going, you know, shot to shot and really telling that story was really fun. And I can’t wait for you to see the R-rated version of it.

Snyder’s Favorite Scene Is A Pivotal Turning Point In Kora’s Character Arc

The Scene Forever Changes Kora’s Future

Kora’s journey to rebellion began in a barn on Veldt and will likely take her back to the Motherworld, where she will need to confront Balisarius in Snyder’s plannedRebel Moonsequels.

Kora (Sofia Boutella) brutally killing the Imperium soldiers in the barn on the planet Veldt is an expertly choreographed action sequence, but more importantly, it is an essential turning point in her character’s journey. Prior to this scene,Kora tries to atone for her past sins by keeping a low profile and living a peaceful life on Veldt, refusing to join the resistance against the Motherworld, or be the violent warrior she used to be. That changes when she sees the Imperium soldiers on Veldt sexually assaulting Sam (Charlotte Maggi) in a barn.

It is at this moment that Kora realizes she can no longer live passively while the Imperium brutalizes others. It is only after killing these Imperium soldiers and saving Sam, with help from a"Jimmy" robot(Anthony Hopkins), and a soldier who defected, Aris (Sky Yang), thatKora commits herself to using her military training and unparalleled fighting skills to protect Veldt. Her commitment to fighting for the planet that has become her home eventually extends to her joining the wider rebellion.

Sam, Jimmy, and Aris all fight alongside Kora in the secondRebel Moonfilm.

BothRebel Moonfilms, and the director’s cuts, have gradually revealed more details about Kora’s tragic past and her history with the franchise’s primary antagonist, Balisarius. If Snyder’s franchise continues despiteRebel Moon’s negative reviews, the paths of Kora and Balisarius will ultimately need to collide. Kora’s journey to rebellion began in a barn on Veldt and will likely take her back to the Motherworld, whereshe will need to confront Balisariusin Snyder’s plannedRebel Moonsequels.
