The answer to today’s Wordle is “EQUIP”.

The word “Equip” is a verb meaning to prepare or make ready for something. As in, “I need to equip myself with the skills needed for this job,” and “Before setting off on a trek, be sure to equip yourself with the tools needed”. Synonyms include “prepare,” “furnish,” and “outfit” (as a verb). Also of note is the word “equipment,” which refers to the resources or implements needed to be equipped.

According tothe Online Etymology Dictionary, the origin of “Equip” is the French word “équiper” meaning “to fit out”. This can be traced back even further to the Old French “esquiper,” which meant specifically fitting out a ship, and the Old Norse “skipa,” meaning to arrange or place in order. Over time, the word has evolved to be used for any preparation and not specifically anything maritime.
