The answer to today’s Wordle is “MERGE”.

The word “Merge” is a verb which means to come together or unite as one. It can be used for two or more lanes of traffic, companies where one has acquired the other, and more besides. However, “merge” generally denotes a gradual coming together rather than being united in an instant.

According tothe Online Etymology Dictionary, the origin of “Merge” is the Latin word “mergere,” meaning to dip, immerse, or plunge into something. This likely has an earlier origin in the Proto-Indo-European word “mezgo-,” meaning to dip, sink, wash, or plunge. Other words which share similar roots are “emerge” and “immersion”.
