The answer to today’s Wordle is “STUNG”.
The word “stung” is the past tense of sting, which has two main definitions. The most common and formal means to wound or pierce with a sting. The second, more informal, means being overcharged or swindled out of money. It can also apply to a police operation.
According tothe Online Etymology Dictionary, the word “sting” comes from the Middle English “stingen,” which meant to stab or pierce with something pointy. The past tense of the word used to be “stang” but eventually came to be “stung”.
