Among them include David Harbour debuting his new Red Guardian suit forThunderbolts*, Joe and Anthony Russo confirming their returns for the nextAvengersmovies, and Doctor Doom being announced as the next major villain with Robert Downey Jr. unmasking himself as the iconic villain.

Every Major MCU Reveal At SDCC 2024 Explained

While the studio’s panel was already highly-anticipated heading into the event, Marvel’s SDCC 2024 presentation proved to be not only the biggest of the year, but also one of their most exciting in years. Kevin Feige began by coming onstage and celebrating bothDeadpool & Wolverine’s release, as well as the MCU officially crossing the $30 billion-mark, a major milestone for the franchise. This subsequently transitioned into aCaptain America: Brave New World-focusedpresentation, which saw Harrison Ford, Anthony Mackie, Giancarlo Esposito, Tim Blake Nelson and Danny Ramirez joining the stage.

Mackie teased how Sam Wilson will be a more “cerebral and thoughtful character” compared to Steve Rogers, as Sam takes on the Captain America mantle without superpowers, while Nelson also expressed his hopes to keep playing The Leader in the MCU and Esposito confirmed thathe will be playing Sidewinder, the leader of the Serpent Society. New footage was also shown for the nextCaptain Americamovie during this part of the presentation, which included a proper look at Ford’s transformation into the Red Hulk.

TheCaptain America: Brave New Worldfootage also revealed the introduction of adamantium to the franchise, with Celestials being made up of the material that is connected to Wolverine’s powers.

This was followed up by David Harbour surprising the crowd with the reveal of his new Red Guardian suit forThunderbolts*. He was then joined on stage by co-stars Lewis Pullman, Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan and director Jake Schreier. In addition to showing a teaser of Yelena reuniting with Alexei, Bucky at Congress and U.S. Agent reflecting on his mistakes, the footage also highlighted action of U.S. Agent and Ghost fighting Yelena, and meeting Pullman’s character, revealed to be Bob, better known as one of themost powerful Marvel heroes, Sentry.

Stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bacharach later came to the stage to share thefirst look atThe Fantastic Four: First Steps, which was a ’60s-era commercial of the group gearing up for their journey to space, with the final moments also featuring a brief glimpse at Galactus' design for the movie. It was also confirmed during this portion of the panel that the entireFantastic Fourteam will be returning in the next twoAvengersmovies, though further specifics about their roles were kept mum.

Marvel ultimately closed out their SDCC 2024 panel with the biggest updates of them all, those being what to expect from the next twoAvengersmovies. In addition to Joe and Anthony Russo being confirmed to direct theMCUteam-up movies, it was announced that Doctor Doom will be Kang’s replacement following Jonathan Majors' firing, with the first of the crossover movies now entitledAvengers: Doomsday. The cherry on top proved to beRobert Downey Jr. pulling off a Doctor Doom maskto confirm he will be playing the villain, explaining his decision to return as his enjoying “playing complicated characters.”
