Google has mapped about 98% of the known world. Every time you log into Google Maps, you have 36 million square miles to navigate. You could click around the map and virtually globetrot, or you could use one of the following games that take advantage of Google’s all-knowing platform for a more gamified exploration.
4TerraClues
If geography is kind of your thing, then TerraClues is for you. But withTerraClues, you need to know far more than where obscure countries are located. This granular game asks that participants use clues to identify where places are down to the very block where they’re located. You may even need to do some digital sleuthing to pin down where some of the places are located.
The game currently has 357 hunts to choose from. When you log in, you’ll be presented with hunts at random, but you can also search for hunts based on their location and difficulty level.

If you ever tire of hunting, you may change roles and create a hunt of your own.
3GeoGuesser
If I put two minutes on the clock, do you think you could identify a place with only the help of Google Street View?GeoGuesseris a straightforward game that asks users to virtually stroll the streets of a city before guessing its location. While the gameplay is straightforward, what sets this game apart are the many ways you can play against opponents from around the world.
GeoGuesser has a multi-player mode that allows you to duel random strangers and friends and even compete against teams. You can also play a battle royal version and host virtual parties. The one downside is that if you want access to all these features you’ll need to pay up. Monthly subscriptions start at $4 and go all the way up to $10 if you pay on a month-by-month basis. You can stick to the free version, but you’ll only be allowed to play three games every 24 hours.

2Where in the World…
Where in the World is part trivia and part geography lesson. When you go toWhere in the World…you’ll be presented with a question and told to guess where on the map the answer lies. The closer you get to the location, the more points you receive.
Some sample questions include:
It’s a good combination of general knowledge and geographical trivia!
1WordleDaily
WordleDailyis a geo-guessing game that you can only play once daily in thesame vein as Wordle. Using Google Street View, you’re dropped in the middle of an unknown location and have six tries to guess the exact location. After each guess, you’re given clues to help you narrow down from the literal world of options. You can choose just how close your guess has to be to win. You can choose from a range from 20 meters to 500 km.
If you’re looking for even more ways to explore the world virtually, I also recommend playingCity GuesserandGloble. City Guesser uses user-generated videos to give users clues about the city they need to guess, while Globle is similar to the game, hot or cold, but played on a global scale. The closer users are to the country in question, the hotter Globle tells them they are.
