Summary
The rumored new form for Tingyun inHonkai: Star Railis one that is highly anticipated given she is a fan favorite character, but there are a few underlying details about the very prospect of her new version that deeply worries me. Currently, Tingyun is a 4-star Lightning character who follows the Path of the Harmony in HoYoverse’s turn-based RPG. Even with various support character releases over the past year, Tingyun remains as one of thebest support characters inHonkai: Star Rail. Even if she pales in comparison to Ruan Mei, Tingyun is a viable 4-star unit to use
Depending on her build, she can even surpass more recent 5-star releases, like Robin, for example. Tingyun is great at buffing allies and making them strike for more damage. Additionally, she can also help restore Energy, fueling the team’s Ultimates for even more power. In the story, Tingyun’s whereabouts are unknown, as a copy of her was used byPhantylia inHonkai: Star Railto deceive those aboard the Xianzhou Luofu. Even a sky funeral was held for her, but it seems she may return stronger than ever, according to a few leaks about upcoming patches to the game.

Honkai: Star Rail 2.5’s New Leaked Banner Type May Not Be So Bad After All
Fresh rumors about the new leaked banner in Honkai: Star Rail hint it will be released in Version 2.5 and may not be as bad as originally predicted.
Tingyun Is Rumored To Return As A 5-Star Character In Honkai: Star Rail
The Leaks Suggest She Will Be Added After Version 2.7
While nothing official has even been teased and Tingyun’s story is somewhat considered ended with the funeral that was held for her, she may make a comeback. According to a new piece of information provided by Seele Leaks, shared in a post tagged as “Questionable” onReddit,Tingyun’s new form may be released after Version 2.7. It is uncertain exactly which update she will arrive in, but certainly, one that is a few months away, since Version 2.7 should only start in early December ifHonkai: Star Rail’s regular six-week schedulefor every update remains the same.
This recent leak follows one that had shown Tingyun’s alleged new form, represented by the character in different clothing and with nine tails instead of one. According to another detail provided by Seele Leaks, also shared in a post onReddit,Tingyun’s new form may use Fire and follow the Nihility. This would mean that not only would Tingyun completely change her wielded element Type but also her role in team comps. The leak also mentions that, normally, Tingyun still presents only one tail, but shows all nine leaked tails when using her new rumored Skill inHonkai: Star Rail.

Other than this, little else is known about Tingyun’s leaked new form.It is uncertain if she will be a 5-star unit or a 4-star character, exactly how her new version will look, and how she will be used in battle. As a very early leak predicting content from beyond Version 2.7, it is best to consider it with caution, as a lot may be incorrect or subject to change ahead of her rumored release. However, while Tingyun’s return under a new form inHonkai: Star Railmay sound good, there are some other inevitable problems that come with it.
Why I’m Not Excited About Honkai: Star Rail’s Dating Sim Leaks
New leaks about Honkai: Star Rail suggest a dating gameplay mode similar to visual novels, but it may not be as exciting as you initially think.
Tingyun’s Leaked New Form In Honkai: Star Rail May Put The Character In Disuse
The Character’s Type & Path Cause Some Concern
The immediate problem that arises from the early leaks about Tingyun’s new form is that her release may finally turn her disuse concrete. As a rumored Fire and Nihility character, her Type and Path alignment already make her too similar to existing characters. As a possible 4-star character, the new Tingyun could compete with Guinaifen, who is already recognized as the best Fire debuffer in the game. As a likely 5-star unit, Tingyun’s new form could conflict with the release of Jiaoqiu inHonkai: Star Rail, another Fire and Nihility character. Certainly, Tingyun’s kit would be different than theirs.
However, there is a chance that she could struggle to find space among two already well-received characters for Nihility teams.Tingyun’s new form under Fire and Nihility would need to stand out with an exclusive type of gameplay mechanic, be it follow-up attacks or even specific types of debuffs against enemies that would benefit upcoming DPS releases – especially if they bring new types of mechanics themselves. At the moment, the idea of a Fire and Nihility Tingyun sounds somewhat silly to me, as much as I enjoy having the character in some of myHonkai: Star Railteam comps.

Furthermore, not only would the new Tingyun form be competing with Fire Nihility characters but with herself. As was previously mentioned, the original version of Tingyun was and still is one of the best support units in the game. Even with powerful supports like Ruan Mei, Sparkle, and Robin, for instance, Tingyun can still be used in a variety of team comps, especially those that follow the hypercarry structure. The rumored new Tingyun form could stain the reputation she gathered for herself over the few years, the same wayMarch 7th (Hunt) inHonkai: Star Railmade the character better.
For reference, hypercarry teams are often those composed of a powerful main DPS, two supports dedicated to buffing the DPS, and a sustain character that helps keep everyone else alive and protected.

This is not to say that the rumored new Tingyun form would make her current support form useless.I would still be able to use Lightning and Harmony Tingyun freely in my team compsand take advantage of the massive benefits she offers to her party allies. However, a new form could impact her public perception and how much I want to have her in my team comps. This is especially true if the new form is a 5-star. There is an unspoken responsibility that a rumored 5-star Tingyun form would carry in surpassing the usefulness of her first form.
Honkai: Star Rail 2.5 Leaks Hint At Lingsha Becoming The Best Healer In The Game
Lingsha’s gameplay kit in Honkai: Star Rail 2.5 has leaked and, given the current description, she may trample Huohuo and Luocha’s healing powers.
At the moment, there is a lot of space for change, so only time will tell if the rumored new Tingyun form is real and how she works. It does, however, coincide with the leaks that mention that older characters will start having new Paths. This seems to be a way of making older characters useful again in team comps, even if their entire kits are different than before. This would allow us to continue using some beloved characters, even if they have fallen into disuse due topowercreeps inHonkai: Star Railthat do their original jobs better.
