Summary
There’s anAMC Immortal Universe showI’ve not heard any news about in a while, and I’d love an update. I’ve been a horror fan for many years, and there’s no shortage of vampire movies based on books, but when I started hearing about the AMC+ plans for their TV adaptation ofInterview with the Vampire, I knew I was in for a treat. The show has committed legendary Anne Rice characters to screen in a way I didn’t realize was possible. This upcoming show could continue doing that.
TheInterview with the Vampirecharactersare pulled straight from Anne Rice’s books, but with some key changes. Despite this, they never felt wrong to me or in opposition to the spirit of the books. If anything, they pulled out what was most essential and made it front and center. It is these characters that may make an appearance in the new AMC show, despiteImmortal Universealso diving into Anne Rice with itsMayfair Witchesshow and the upcomingThe Talamascashow.

10 Best TV Shows To Watch After Interview With The Vampire
AMC’s Interview with the Vampire is ideal for fans of vampire lore and these 10 series will be excellent for continuing the genre binge.
The Night Island Series Was Announced Back In 2022
Night Island Will Be Based On The Vampire Chronicles
On July 27, 2025,AMC Networksissued a press release confirming that they had orderedNight Island, a digital original show “based on elements within Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned.” Third inThe Vampire Chronicles, followingInterview with the VampireandThe Vampire Lestat, this novel followedLestat de Lioncourt’s story, from his perspective.Night Island was an island run by Armandthat featured in “The Story of Daniel, the Devil’s Minion, or the Boy from Interview with the Vampire,” one of my favorite chapters. Lestat narrated it as Daniel, imagining Daniel’s point of view.
Interview with the Vampireseason 3 is expected to be released sometime in 2025.

In April 2023,AMC Networksprovided some more detail. The show “will premiere across all AMC Networks digital, streaming, and linear platforms in the fourth quarter of 2023.“The “six-part short-form” digital-only show was not released in 2023, and no updates have been shared since, to my curiosity - I hope this delay doesn’t signify cancelation. The show will follow “a pair of art thieves intending to steal a legendary painting who go undercover on Night Island,” and who are unfortunately ignorant of the island’s vampiric residents and clientele.
Night Island Could Be The Most Fun Series In Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe
Night Island Is A Highlight Of The Vampire Chronicles
There are lots of things that set the premise ofNight Islandapart as a great idea for AMC. I think a digital-only series has legs, but after the success ofInterview with the Vampireseason 2, I’m sureNight Islandcould be a match for TV broadcast. I’m also excited about the idea of a short-form series with episodes of just 10 or 15 minutes; this would slot nicely into my busy evenings. However,it would be a lie if I said I didn’t want a whole long-form episode for each standout point of “the Devil’s Minion"chapter.
This chapter centered Daniel, who is probably my fourth favorite character inThe Vampire Chronicles, after Lestat, Louis, and Armand, of course. This may not sound significant, but there was a huge ensemble of characters across Anne Rice’s sprawling saga, and Daniel wasn’t really mentioned much. But I “got him”, especially as a fellow writer, and I’m glad that theInterview with the Vampireshow is giving him the importance he deserves. Despite its art thief focus, I imagineNight Islandmust also touch on its canonical and entertaining centerpieces - Daniel and Armand.

How Night Island Could Tie Into Other Immortal Universe Shows
Night Island Could Refer Back To Interview With The Vampire
Interview with the Vampiregave Daniel a bigger role than he had in the book, andNight Islandcould build on that.Interview with the Vampirewill be “revving up” Daniel’s rolegoing into future seasons as well, as confirmed by Daniel actor Eric Bogosian. This sets the stage perfectly forNight Island, withthe only additional complication being, of course, the fan-favorite Anne Rice pairing that is Daniel and Armand, which took place at Night Island and throughout its storyline. If I said that this duo deserves their own TV show, it would be an understatement.
As one of the most explicitly queer parts of the book series, the “Night Island” storyline described Armand’s problematic pursuit of Daniel, and the eventual turning of the tables, whereby Daniel wished he could find Armand. The two fell in love amidst a bizarre and often hilarious courtship, involving terrible smoothies, eight phones, and three (literal) shipwrecks. The romance is well worth exploring inNight Island, even if marginalized beside the art thief protagonists. It’s an affair that, in some ways, I’ve already seen begin inInterview with the Vampire.

Showrunner Rolin Jones confirmed thatInterview with the Vampireseason 3 will indeed explore the “Devil’s Minion” plot twist.
Armand turned Daniel into a vampire at the end ofInterview with the Vampireseason 2, which occurred in the “Night Island” storyline in the books. Showrunner Rolin Jones confirmed thatInterview with the Vampireseason 3will indeed explore the “Devil’s Minion” plot twist, speaking toTheWrap. I wonder if the inevitable crossover betweenInterview with the VampireandNight Islandis what caused delays toNight Island, as the show irons out its adaptation of Armand and Daniel’s relationship. Whatever the case may be, I hope this promisingImmortal Universeshow will get released.
