TheGoogle Nest Wifi Prodebuted in October 2022, just as we were preparing for the official unveiling of thePixel 7 series. Although somespeed-related troubleinitially plagued this Wi-Fi 6E router, Google quickly acknowledged it and laterfixed the issue. This August, trusted resource9to5Googlestumbled acrosscode within the Google Home app, indicating that a second-generation model of the Nest Wifi Pro could be in the works. We’ve now obtained additional information on this front.

Thanks to a tip fromCharlie Callow, we now know that Google has included new iconography depicting the Nest Wifi Pro 2 on itsMaterial Symbols and icons page. This icon is available across the web, Android, and iOS versions, per the site. Callow also directed us to aGithub commitfor the Nest Wifi Pro 2 icon dating back to June 22, 2025, giving some credence to reports of the router’s impending release.

Google Icons Nest Wifi Pro 2

We must point out that the mention of the Nest Wifi Pro 2 on the Material Symbols repository doesn’t necessarily mean a launch is on the cards. Back in February, a similar listingsuggested the presence of the Nest Locator Tag. But months have passed since then, and Google hasn’t launched itsApple Airtag competitoryet. Meanwhile, the Nest Locator Tag icon/symbol has since been removed from Google’s page, indicating that the idea may have been ditched or postponed indefinitely.

While it makes sense for a next-gen Nest Wifi Pro model to break cover imminently based on the new findings, it’s still pretty early to tell if this smart router will ever make it through to the market. Perhaps Google wants to wait until the broader rollout ofWi-Fi 7before launching the upgraded model. This would also explain why Google didn’t release the Nest Wifi Pro 2 in early October, as was speculated when the first evidence of the upgraded router emerged.

We also learned at the time that this new router would be known by the codename Breeza, potentially a misspelling of the Italian word Brezza, which means breeze. This was accompanied by the revelation of the model numberGS4VD, plus the codeBRZA, also hidden within the Google Home app’s code. While the company is expectedly quiet about this potential Nest Wifi Pro successor, these are the strongest possible hints that point toward its arrival. The timing is still up in the air, though.

But withBlack Fridayfestivities coming up, you are likely to find more than a handful of deals on the Google Nest Wifi Pro, which is among thebest routers you can buy, with Wi-Fi 6E being its key selling point.

“Nest Wifi Pro 2” icon is already being used by the Google Home app

As pointed out by9to5Google, the “Nest Wifi Pro 2” icon is already being used by the Google Home app as an asset for the original Nest Wifi Pro model. Considering this, it’s likely the image found on Google’s Material Symbols and Icons page is a secondary icon for the original model.
