Summary

The Acolyteshowrunner Leslye Headland teases howStar Wars' latest Disney+ series connects to one of the most powerful and influential Sith Lords of all time. Set during the final days of the High Republic era, the series follows a group of Jedi on the hunt for a mysterious killer who has set her sights on murdering a group of Jedi Masters. AsThe Acolyteprogresses with new episodes, shocking truths are revealed, with the case having connections to a tragic incident in a distant world that a small group of Jedi took great pain to cover up.

AsThe Acolyteprepares to air its final chapter, Headland revealed toNerdistabout how its Dark Side cast may tie into the Sith Lineage that plagued the heroes of the Skywalker Saga. When asked if she knew how Dark Side adepts like Mae (Amandla Stenberg) and The Stranger (Manny Jacinto)would eventually lead into the lineage of Darth Plagueis and his apprentice Emperor Palpatine(Ian McDiarmid), Headland confirmed she had an idea of how the characters would lead into Palpatine’s rise. Check out Headland’s response below:

Palpatine and Darth Plagueis

Yes, I do. If I continue to get to tell this story, I know how I would like that to play out. And I would say I think it’s pretty complicated and messy.

New Details From Episode 7 & Witches of Brendok Could Be The Key.

A potential way the Sith Lord could have obtained such knowledge may be through learning of Brendok Witch’s rituals, such as the rites Mother Anisaya (Jodie Turner-Smith) used to birth Osha and Mae and The Power of Two.

As explained inStar Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Plagueis was a Sith Lord so powerful thathe could manipulate Midichlorians to create life, and would train Palpatine until his inevitable betrayal at the hands of his apprentice. While the Legends continuity dedicated an entire novel that explored the Muun Sith Lord’s rise and fall, Canon has yet to delve too deeply into the machinations of Plagueis and Palpatine before the fall of the Republic. However, the little lore details surrounding their schemes doalign with the magic seen wielded by the Witches of Brendok inThe Acolyte.

11 Things Star Wars Has Revealed About Darth Plagueis, Palpatine’s Master

Darth Plagueis' story in Star Wars canon is largely shrouded in mystery, but 11 significant revelations have surfaced about Palpatine’s Sith Master.

As stated inStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’s novelization, part of Plagueis' many explorations of immortality involved two individuals being used to obtain eternal life, such as through a Dyad that he tried to forge with Palpatine. A potential way the Sith Lord could have obtained such knowledge may be through learning of Brendok Witch’s rituals, such as the rites Mother Anisaya (Jodie Turner-Smith)used to birth Osha and Maeand The Power of Two. Furthermore, the Witches of Brendok were also hinted to know Transference, a talent both Plagueis and Palpatine would master.

While Headland’s response seemingly rules out an appearance by either Plagueis or a young Palpatine, the showrunner has a clear vision of how the show’s eventswill directly lead into the Skywalker Saga. While the series has already set pieces in place to explore the Jedi Order’s decline and downfall, its connections to the Sith are still vague, with the Stranger seemingly being a lone fallen Jedi with no other master. However, with Headland teasing a further complex tale, potential futureAcolyteseasons seem set to tell the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise.
