This reunion, which comes nearly 4 years later, was captured in a heartwarming photo shared bypascaloriannon X (formerly Twitter).Hamill and Pascal had the chance to reunite for a cast photo promoting their upcoming animated movieThe Wild Robot, which the two both star in- but this particular photograph focuses on Hamill and Pascal’s bond. It shows the two of them with an arm around each other, enjoying a private moment in each other’s company amongst an otherwise extremely busy SDCC atmosphere. Now thatThe Mandalorianis headed to the big screen in theupcomingThe Mandalorian & Grogumovie,this story is only going to get bigger and bolder. With new, large threats facing theNew Republicand the rest of the galaxy, includingGrand Admiral Thrawn, it seems very possible that Luke Skywalker may join the fray to help Din Djarin and the others protect the galaxy.
As Star Wars' first Jedi and most iconic Mandalorian, a Luke and Din team-up for a battle would be highly memorable.
While the two both appeared inThe Book of Boba Fettepisode 6 “Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger,” they technically shared no scenes together, given the fact that Din was ushered away fromLuke’s Jedi Temple on Ossusbefore he could actually reunite with Grogu. It would be thrilling to see this pair truly work together, something they didn’t quite do when Luke appeared inThe Mandalorianseason 2 finale. AsStar Wars’first Jedi and most iconic Mandalorian, a Luke and Din team-up for a battle would be highly memorable.
It does, however, hold true thatStar Warsneeds to move past its nostalgic heroes now more than ever before. Unless the franchise finally decides to recast heroes like Luke, these stories will get bogged down with the technical aspects needed to bring Luke to life again.It may be for the better, then, that Din’s only allies in any future battles are the newer heroes of the Disney era, allowing them to have their own story carved out in this crucial era. Either way, it’s still heartwarming to see thisThe Mandalorianreunion of two belovedStar Warsheroes.
