Summary

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Inquisitors #1!Anakin Skywalkerdied during Order 66, as it was at that moment that Darth Vader was truly born inStar Warscanon. However, following the Great Jedi Purge, one Jedi survivor rose up and inspired a number of other survivors to not lose hope in the face of the seemingly insurmountable evil of the Empire. And that Jedi is the new ‘Anakin Skywalker’, a title he claimed in the most unusual (yet perfect) way.

InStar Wars: Inquisitors#1 by Rodney Barnes and Ramon Rosanas, the Grand Inquisitor has been ordered by Darth Vader to find and eliminate one particularJedi who survived Order 66: Tensu Run. Run is a relatively young Jedi Knight who rose to prominence after freeing a number of imprisoned people from an Imperial outpost, which he did through his mastery of a skill that Anakin Skywalker was famous for: flying.

Tensu Run flew his ship head-first into an Imperial outpost with no backup, and seemingly no plan other than to free those who had been wrongly imprisoned any way he could. Using his flying skills, Run outmaneuvered and destroyed two TIE Fighters at once before breaching the outpost’s defenses and landing right where the Empire was keeping its prisoners. Run then popped out of his ship, ignited his blue lightsaber, and took on every Imperial Trooper who tried to stop him before successfully completing his mission and making his escape.

10 Best Star Wars Legends Comics (That Should Still Be Canon)

Star Wars has no shortage of fantastic comics, but most aren’t a part of its main continuity. Here’s the 10 best Legends comics that need to be canon!

Tensu Run’s Piloting Skills Rival Anakin Skywalker, & He’s Just as Valiant in Battle

Right off the bat, it’s clear that Tensu Run’s piloting skills rival those of Anakin Skywalker, as seeing him take on an entire base of enemies solo gives one flashbacks to Anakin’s many similar exploits during the Clone Wars. But beyond that, Run is reminiscent of Anakin Skywalker throughout this entire mission, in every conceivable way. From leading a valiant charge against seemingly insurmountable odds, to completing his mission practically unscathed after flying half-cocked right into danger, to even the blue lightsaber itself.

If Anakin hadn’t been chosen by Palpatine, and he was simply one of the many Jedi who experienced Order 66 and survived it, then it’s conceivable that he’d be doing exactly what Tensu Run is doing in this issue. And what’s even more noteworthy, is they’d look practically identical, given what fans know about Anakin’s battle tactics from his many Clone Wars missions. However, the real similarity that’s too obvious to ignore is their flying skills, and just from this one example alone, it seems Tensu Run could give Anakin a run for his money.

Star Wars Presents Another Parallel Between Anakin Skywalker & Tensu Run

Aside from his flying skills, his battle tactics, and his overall aesthetic, there is another similarity between Anakin Skywalker and Tensu Run: they’re both a ‘chosen one’. Anakin was considered the chosen one, as many believed him to be the one that would bring balance to the Force (which, unfortunately for the Jedi, he did). And now, Tensu Run is another ‘chosen one’, as he is bringing hope to the other Jedi that survived Order 66, and is the greatest single threat facing the Empire at this point in time - which is why Darth Vader wants him dead.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of this series plays out, as Darth Vader seems to be using his Inquisitors to hunt a version of his previous self. Tensu Run is young, perhaps a bit cocky, and incredibly brave. But more than anything, this new ‘Anakin Skywalker’ is a fantastic pilot, which is an unusual yet perfect parallel to the original ‘chosen one’ inStar Warslore.

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader

Conceived by the will of the Force itself, Anakin Skywalker was the prophesied Chosen One, destined to bring the Force into balance. Anakin struggled to balance competing attachments to the Jedi Order and his wife Padmé Amidala, and ultimately fell to the dark side, becoming Darth Vader. For years he served as Palpatine’s right hand man, but he was ultimately redeemed by the faith of his son, Luke Skywalker. Now a Force Ghost, Anakin continues to act as an agent of balance.
