Owain Arthur:Due to some very powerful rings, there’s a shift in dynamics among the dwarves. The rings certainly have an effect on the king, and therefore the entire kingdom, really. We see the positives of the rings, but Durin certainly also feels the negative aspects of them.

Kevin Eldon:Narvi has an interesting journey in season 2, as the king increasingly falls under the power of the rings. These rings are getting under his skin; he’s becoming less logical and showing signs of madness. So Narvi has to make a very difficult choice about whether he obeys his natural instinct, which is to be loyal and to follow the king’s wishes or to abandon that very basic requirement of his life and instead show more loyalty to Khazad-dûm? He gets to a point where he has to leap one way or the other. I’m not going to tell you what he chooses, but it’s certainly a dilemma for him.

How Sauron’s Rings Will Impact The Dwarves In Rings Of Power Season 2

The Rings of Powerseason 1 endedwith Durin IV stripped of his royalty and the mithril mine sealed, only to reveal its opening caused a Balrog to be awakened. This hints at the beast potentially attacking Khazad-dûm in the future, whileseason 2’s promotional material confirmed King Durin III will end up with Rings from Sauron. The artifacts are used for the Dark Lord to control the races of Middle-earth, something that will no doubt have negative consequences for all Dwarves as the episodes play out.

The core source of tension will no doubt come from the decisions King Durin makes under his Ring’s influence, likely bringing about chaos for his people. This meanscharacters like his son will need to step in to keep him from making decisions influenced by Sauron’s goals, something he won’t be able to do alone now that his royal claim is gone. Instead, Narvi’s decision would likely be the core factor, his loyalties confirming whether he’ll go against his King for the sake of his people, or unknowingly allow the Dark Lord to win.

Since the Balrog is also a looming threat forThe Rings of Power’s Dwarf characters, its potential attack could be a deciding factor in how Durin IV and Narvi handle their King’s turn. While it’s currently unclear what negative consequences will come for Khazad-dûm because of the Rings, their influence will likely escalate as the series continues. This means plenty of destructive events are bound to unfold as Sauron continues heightening his power over Middle-earth’s kingdoms.

The first three episodes ofThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Powerseason 2 arrive on Prime Video on June 06, 2025.
