With a huge price tag of $400, the Razer Leviathan V2 Pro has much to live up to. This beefy desktop soundbar-subwoofer combo promises immersive magic with features like beam-forming and head-tracking. While it’s not discreet in size and lacks a wide range of connectivity options, it is a solid companion for gaming that combines aesthetic appeal with commendable audio performance.

Enjoy a 5.1 speaker system, rumbling bass, and a wide soundstage that tracks your movement and delivers exceptional audio.

Bigger (and Better)

You know the old saying, “Bigger isn’t always better”? Well, in this case, it is. The Razer Leviathan V2 Pro includes a soundbar and subwoofer; the soundbar weighs 2.27kg (5 lbs), while the subwoofer comes in at just over 5kg (11.2 lbs). In terms of size, the V2 Pro is around four inches longer than the V2. Before even considering whether this combo will deliver the goods, you’ll need to check if you have the space for it.

The Razer Leviathan V2 Pro impresses from the get-go with its premium presentation and incredible design. Despite the subwoofer’s noticeable size, the soundbar maintains a reasonable compactness. However, you may have to adjust the height of your monitor slightly if it is to sit below it.

The inclusion of taller feet underneath the soundbar further enhances its appeal. This element creates valuable clearance, meaning users can slide the soundbar snugly over a monitor’s base while still sitting conveniently in front of the display. This attention to detail in the design makes the Leviathan V2 Pro not just a functional sound system but also an aesthetically pleasing addition to any setup. And it goes some way toward justifying the price.

Designed With Gamers in Mind

Upon closer inspection, the soundbar reveals a user-friendly layout on its top surface. Here, four buttons flank a power/volume dial, offering a straightforward interface for adjusting settings. Accompanying these controls are LED indicator lights, providing intuitive visual feedback. These indicators are pivotal in navigating the EQ presets and settings, ensuring a seamless adjustment process.

Despite lacking HDMI or optical inputs, the Bluetooth and USB connectivity lend themselves well to gaming PC setups. As with most Razer peripherals, the Leviathan V2 Pro can also be controlled via the Razer Synapse app. Here you can adjust settings, program the RGBs, and switch between sound modes. If you want to connect your Razer Leviathan V2 Pro with other Razer products, like a mouse or keyboard, you can sync these up using Razer Synapse, allowing you to enjoy a light show like no other.

Razer has equipped the soundbar with a set of five full-range 2-inch drivers hidden behind the grille, emphasizing audio quality without compromising on aesthetics. Additionally, a separate 5.25-inch downward-firing subwoofer accompanies the soundbar, promising enhanced bass performance and a more immersive audio experience. But more on the audio side of things later.

Sound That Moves With You

So far we have an aesthetically pleasing, if not slightly large, soundbar and subwoofer combo. Add some infrared depth-sensing cameras to the mix, and the Razer Leviathan V2 Pro gets propelled to a whole other level.

These user-facing cameras track the position of your head, directing the V2 Pro to direct those aforementioned beamforming drivers to provide a level of simulated surround sound. Immersing yourself into a game without a headset can prove tricky, but with the Leviathan V2 Pro, it’s easy to achieve.

Switch to the Virtual Headset mode and feel like you’re in the action, supported by THX Spatial Audio. You will no longer need to crank up the volume to hear the footsteps of other players or the direction of gunfire; now you have everything you need right there. And the bonus? You won’t get a sweaty head or uncomfortable ears from wearing a headset.

You can switch the soundbar over to Virtual Speakers mode if you want to take things down a notch and relax with a less intense game. This offers a much broader audio experience—still immersive, but less focused. I’d say it’s more suitable for single-player action/adventure games, or RTS titles that don’t rely on directional audio.

High Frequencies Get a Little Muddy

Despite the comprehensive customization options provided by the Synapse app, the convenient controls, and Razer’s AI head tracking system, the soundbar’s high-frequency response appears to be limited. This limitation becomes increasingly evident during specific audio experiences, particularly in media with nuances that heavily rely on high-end detail.

The Leviathan V2 Pro delivers a commendable audio performance, showcasing strengths in bass performance, sound imaging, and creating a wide soundstage. The robust bass output and the soundbar’s ability to produce immersive sound imaging enrich the listening experience. It earns some serious plus points here, which again justifies its price.

However, there are weaknesses in its sound profile. The absence of high-end detail impacts the audio experience somewhat. It’s not hugely disruptive, but you’re in for a muddy ride if you prefer listening to music or streaming movies/TV shows with high-end frequencies. The Leviathan V2 Pro leans toward a mid-centric profile.

But, despite these limitations, the soundbar manages to compensate for its drawbacks with substantial volume output and immersive audio modes. And if you want to pump up the bass, you’re in for a treat because this is where the V2 Pro really excels.

Not for TV, but That’s Okay

Primarily, you’ll connect the Leviathan V2 Pro with USB-C for the best features and performance, but there’s also Bluetooth (albeit only with AAC and SBC codec support). It isn’t equipped with HDMI eARC or Optical inputs, so it would be difficult to use this for a TV. But if you’re investing in the V2 Pro, it’s likely this isn’t what you’d intended to use it for anyway. This is a PC-only soundbar.

The inclusion of RGB lighting significantly enhances the soundbar’s visual appeal. The increased number of lighting zones compared to its predecessor elevates the aesthetic experience, making the Leviathan V2 Pro a visually stunning addition to any desk setup.

Incredible Audio With Razer’s Signature RGBs

The Razer Leviathan V2 Pro presents a compelling case with its immersive audio experience, stunning design, and user-friendly controls. Despite occasional limitations in high-frequency response and a mid-centric sound profile, the V2 Pro excels in delivering powerful bass, wide sound imaging, and substantial volume output.

However, the soundbar’s high price point may put some prospective buyers off, especially considering its audio nuance drawbacks, limited high-end detail, and lack of connectivity. But if you’re looking for a soundbar with innovative head-tracking technology for virtual surround, booming bass, a wide soundstage—and a thoughtful design—you can’t go wrong with the Leviathan V2 Pro.
