Stardew Valleyhas been around for quite some time now, and although it continues to have a strong and active fanbase, some players have been trying their hands at different challenge runs of the cozy farming sim to keep things interesting. The recent addition of patch 1.6 added a lot of new content to the game, which brought many people back after perhaps having some time away, and for others it helped to revitalize their gameplay experience. Yet, sometimes people still need just a little more of a challenge added by doing things like never leaving the farm.

There are several possibilities forchallenge runs inStardew Valley, including this one that Reddit user_littlestrangerhas recently posted about having successfully accomplished. In their challenge, they never left the farm to purchase seeds or animals, upgrade weapons, or form relationships with neighbors, and havemanaged to earn a million gold by Fall Year 3.

Theimpressive feat needs patience and determinationto happen, but is entirely doable. Commenters on the post discuss many of the things that would be needed for this, specifically pointing out the challenge of not having upgraded tools. The original poster, _littlestranger, comments in the thread that they made most of their money from mushroom logs and ferns as they are still only growing mixed seeds for their crops until they can get a gold bar to make a seed maker.

The Stardew Valley Farm Has Everything Necessary

Depending On Which Farm Map Is Chosen, Farmers Have Everything They Need

Never leaving the farm inStardew Valleyrestricts a lot of the progression in the game, particularly from the lack of tool upgrades and not having access to the full mines. Picking the right farm map certainly helps make it more achievable, and players can get wild seeds simply from cutting grass and hoeing the ground. The original poster also specifies thatthey have the lumberjack profession, which allows them to get hardwood from regular treeswithout an upgraded ax.

Reddit user lemonade-cookies commented on the thread about the post their amazement, while also adding thateverything is pure profit due to the player never leaving the farm to spend their moneyon any upgrades, seeds, items, or anything else.

All New Achievements In Stardew Valley 1.6, Ranked By Difficulty

With Stardew Valley 1.6 finally reaching console and mobile, players using those platforms can now earn nine new achievements, but some are tough.

Although this player did not have a seed maker yet, it is possible to get one, thereby increasing the control a farmer has over their crops and making better quality crops. In order to do this, a gold bar will be necessary, which can’t be mined in the farm’s quarry until later in the game, when the farmer’s mining skill is at level seven or higher.

Our Take: A Unique Achievement That You Shouldn’t Try

Very Cool, But Probably Not As Fun As Other Ways Of Playing

PlayingStardew Valleywith these types of challenges, such as never leaving the farm, can be very cool and definitely adds a unique twist to the gameplay. However, these methods can also serve tomake this cozy game incredibly stressful. If someone is bored with their current, traditional methods of playing, and it sounds intriguing, then doing a play-through like this is impressive and adds another layer of difficulty.

For myself, I prefer to play these games in a much more relaxed way, with all the benefits that can be obtained from town. Although, the idea of roleplaying as a hermit in my secluded area of the woods does sound pretty appealing. Perhaps I will need to give this a try for my next play-through ofStardew Valley.
