Wit Studio’s One Piece Remake Reveals New Concept Art

The One PieceReveals Amazing Staff Involved and More on the Unique Vision For the Project

First announced back in December 2023, fans of the franchise were initiallyskeptical about the newOne Pieceremake, especially since it was expected to adapt the East Blue Saga, which many fans view with great nostalgia. As much as Toei’s animation has improved over the last two decades, these initial arcs of the story with their distinct pre-time skip character designs are quite beloved and many feared this charm would be lost in the remake.

However, the new concept art reveals the newcharacter designs for the remake are surprisingly coherent with Oda’s initial art style, with a charming, soft color palette that was recently popularized by the Egghead Arc. Besides the character designs for Luffy and the Straw Hats, the new concept art includes sneak peeks of many memorable scenes from the East Blue Saga, such as Zoro’s promise to Kuina, Sanji feeding Gin, Sanji fighting Fullbody, Usopp confronting Kuro, and even a young Shanks and Buggy fighting with each other.

The full list of staff members for theOne Pieceremake is as follows:

In addition to the experienced staff on the list, the interview also mentions how many of the members, like the animation producer Ryoma Kawamura and the prop designer Eri Taguchi, are relatively younger. The director of the remake, Koizuka, explains that theyounger staff members bring a lot of passion to the project, having grown up withOne Pieceas the series’ target demographic when it first aired, and thus wish to do the series justice.

All in all,Wit Studio’sOne Pieceremakeis shaping up to be quite a promising release and while it will certainly be different from the original in many ways, the new concept art proves the remake will not let the franchise down. It may be a while until theOne Pieceremake releases but hopefully, there will be many more such sneak peeks to come.

One Piece

Created by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece is a multimedia franchise that began as a manga series and follows the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates as led by Monkey D. Luffy. Luffy, an enthusiastic pirate with a thirst for adventure, is afflicted by a mysterious curse that gives him various powers he uses to protect himself and his friends. The manga eventually gave way to the anime series, with the two being some of history’s longest-running anime and manga series. Along with over fifty video games made over the years, the series entered the live-action world with Netflix’s 2023 adaptation.
