Trials Of Mana Was One Of 2020’s Best Remakes
In A Year Where There Were Many
2020 was a year full of remakes, includingDestroy All Humans!(the remade sequel of which is among those leaving PS Plus in August, too),Resident Evil 3, andFinal Fantasy 7 Remake,to name a few. Despite so much saturation,Trials of Manadefinitely held a place as one of the better remakes of the year.
Trials of Manatranslated the original game’s top-down 2D point of view into a full 3D third-person perspective and updated its real-time battle system - something that was far more uncommon upon its original 1995 release - to be even more active to stand among more modern titles. The title also included a re-recorded soundtrack - albeit with the option to switch back to the original at any time - and an official English translation, along with seven other languages.

Before the 2020 remake,Trials of Manawas only playable in English with an unofficial translation until 2019, when it was included inCollection of ManaalongsideFinal Fantasy AdventureandSecret of Mana.

Trials of Mana (2024)
A remake of a previously unreleased Mana game for Western markets, Trials of Mana is an action RPG created by Square Enix that brings the world of Seiken Densetsu 3 to life in the third dimension. The game allows players to embark on a quest as one of six playable characters and choose two others as playable allies as they try to fix the problems of their homelands, all while dealing with a more significant threat to the legendary Mana tree. As the game features six protagonists, each playthrough is unique as they all have different character interactions and endings that all help further flesh out the world of Mana.
