Summary

Despite the promise ofStarfield’s massive universe, the worlds players can explore in the sci-fi RPG are surprisingly sparse,a fault that will hopefully be remedied after the launch of this new mod. Whenever players land upon a planet inStarfield, there’s a high likelihood that whateverpoints of interest they discoverwill be copied and pasted from another location. There’s a distinct lack of originality when it comes to the various discoveries users can happen upon, meaning it’s fallen to the community to come up with a reason to explore the game’s worlds.

Posted to the Creations page, userkaos_nyrbshared their “Avontech Suit Power Cores” mod which adds 16 points of interest toStarfield. These “Geo-Energy Emissions” can be found across the galaxy and each one contains a “Geo-Energy Crystallization"that can be acquired for a single-use suit upgrade. Players will need to overcome the Core Reavers who protect each new point of interest and in doing so, they’ll gain access to 31 new suit improvements that range from dealing additional damage to protecting against specific elements or even buffing their character’s stealth.

Mods have yet to make it to Starfield on Xbox, but once the Creation Club becomes available, there are a few mods all Xbox players should download.

This Mod Could Pave The Way Forward

More Creators Should Take Note

While having an additional 16 points of interest to discover is already an exciting idea, some members of theStarfieldcommunityare hoping kaos_nyrb’s mod sparks a new trend.Players are calling upon modders to create entire “point of interest” packs that simply add in new landmarks, events, and objectsthat could randomly spawn when landing on a planet. These could then be shared through Creations on the modding hub Nexus Mods so players could expand on their exploration options.

One of the most common complaints aboutStarfieldis that while it does offer users a massive universe to explore, setting out on an adventure across a planet never yields much in the way of rewards. Loot is fairly generic meaning there’s no incentive to break away from the main quest and experience the game’s side-content. Having more points of interest alongside animproved loot distribution systemcould allow for more unique discoveries and justify exploration.

The advent of Creations could be what makesStarfielda success in the eyes of the community asplayers are now able to access new content without needing to wait on official updates from Bethesda. The studio is currently working on the first major expansion,Shattered Space, and while smaller patches are planned for the future, being able toeasily install custom add-onswill allow the developers to take their time. One can only hope that modders heed the call and grant the community the points of interest they crave.
