Warning: Minor spoilers ahead for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. The Witcher: Sirens of the Deepreturns viewers to the Continent ahead ofThe Witcherseason 4, but the anime movie misses out on a prime opportunity to recreate one ofHenry Cavill’s best moments. Notably,Cavill doesn’t voice Geralt in Netflix’s new film, as the actor departed from the fantasy franchise after season 3. Although Liam Hemsworth will replace him inThe Witcher’s upcoming fourth season, he doesn’t portray the film’s lead either. Instead, Netflix brings backThe Witchergames' Geralt voice actor, Doug Cockle, for the honor.

AndCockle does a masterful job bringing Geralt to lifein Cavill’s absence, but he also maintains many of the mannerisms that define Netflix’s version of the Witcher. After all, asSirens of the Deep’s returning characterssuggest, the movie is meant to take place in the midst of the main show’s first season. Andthe connection to the live-action Netflix series offers a great chance to honor Cavill’s portrayal. Sadly, the anime film doesn’t take it — and doing so would have been even better given Cockle’s involvement.

Geralt & Yennefer’s Bath Scene In The New Witcher Movie Misses An Opportunity To Recreate 1 Great Moment

The Movie Could Have Nodded To Henry Cavill’s Iconic Bath Scene

One of Cavill’s most iconic moments inThe Witcheris his recreation of the bath scenefromThe Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, andSirens of the Deeppasses on an opportunity to recreate it. Early in the film, Geralt thinks back to sharing a bath with Yennefer. He steps out of it angrily, but the anime movie could have used this scene to reference the well-known moment and strengthen its connection to the original show. As it already puts the characters in a similar scenario, it wouldn’t feel forced at all.

The Witcher’s New Movie Is A Reminder To Read One Of Andrzej Sapkowski’s Best Short Stories

The world of The Witcher is expanding with the animated movie Sirens of the Deep, and it’s a great reminder to read the short story it’s based on.

The Witcherseason 3 even takes the time torevive Geralt’s heavily meme’d bathtub scene, so the franchise knows how iconic this game recreation is. And considering thatSirens of the Deep’s Geralt is supposed to be the same character as Cavill’s, this would have proven a comical way to drive that point home.It also would have been an ideal opportunity to honorThe Witchergames, sinceCavill’s first Geralt replacementis so strongly connected to them.

Redoing Geralt’s Iconic Bath Scene Would Have Been Even Better With Doug Cockle Playing Him

It Would Be A Fun Callback To The Games Too

Cockle voicing Geralt inSirens of the Deepwould have made a recreation ofThe Witcher 3’s iconic bathtub scene even better, as Cockle is the one who portrays Geralt throughout the game. Therefore, including a reference to this moment wouldn’t just be a callback to Cavill’s iconic scene; it would also honor the source material that inspired it. It would have been a fun way to highlight Cockle’s return to the character, but sadly,The Witcher: Sirens of the Deepdoesn’t go for it, even with the setup already there.
