Jujutsu Kaisen’s Live-Action Trailer Explained

The joke behind Fanta Academy’s Superhuman Teacher

The basic joke of the trailer forJujutsu Kaisenvolume #27, officially titledFanta Academy’s Superhuman Teacher, revolves around Takaba asking his students to describe what a Jujutsu sorcerer boyfriend would be like, and one student, whom Takaba addressed as Four-Eyes, despite not wearing glasses, said he’d be the kind of person to say “I’ll draw the Curtain” when darkening the room, a joke on the Curtain technique from the manga. No one laughed at the joke, which Kenjaku called them out on, and to close out the skit,Takaba was completely surprised to see Kenjaku in his classroom.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Live-Action Trailer Is Perfect For Volume 27’s Fight

The live-action trailer forJujutsu Kaisenvolume #27 is very bizarre, and it’s not even that funny, but it’s the best sort of trailer for the arc of theJujutsu Kaisenmangait covers. A major part of Takaba’s character is how his style of comedy is too bizarre for anyone to get, which is why he’s spent so many years failing as a comedian. Because of that, the fact thatJujutsu Kaisen’s live-action trailer isn’t that funny is part of what makes it so funny, as it leans perfectly into the randomness and often unfunny nature of Takaba’s comedy.

Kenjaku’s presence is another part of why it’s such a good trailer. Kenjaku was the only person who ever got Takaba’s comedy, which led to the odd friendship between them, and because of that,Kenjaku randomly showing up in the trailer and playing into the joke perfectly showcases what made his and Takaba’s fight so good. Overall, the trailer does a great job of advertisingJujutsu Kaisenvolume #27 and the bizarre fight that makes up most of its content, and with how much of a highlight the fight was, that sort of recognition is great to see.
