What To Expect From HBO’s Lanterns TV Show
While initially developed as a Max Original,Lanternsis now an HBO Original, as it will air on the popular channel while releasing the new episodes on their streaming service afterward.Lanternsseason 1 will consist of eight episodes, with Mundy, King, and Lindelof currently leading the creative charge for the DC Universe drama. Outside of Hal and John, no other characters have been announced to be joiningLanterns.
TheLanternsTV show will be heavily influenced byTrue Detective, focusing on a big mystery that will require Hal and John to investigate it on Earth. According to HBO, Hal is depicted as a"Lantern legend,“while John is imagined as a"new recruit,“which suggests an age difference between the two DC icons. As they look into the"dark, Earth-based mystery,“Lanterns will also"investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
Gunn has made it clear that the"ancient horror"will be a story that connects to other DC Universe movies and TV shows, meaningLanternswill serve as a crucial part of Chapter 1, Gods and Monsters.
