As a tech writer, my work requires me to take dozens of screenshots throughout the day, but I don’t often need to keep them. Deleting hundreds of screenshots manually can be tedious, which is why I made an iPhone Shortcut to clear them out in seconds.
Using the Shortcuts App to Delete All Screenshots at Once
Getting started with Shortcutscan be a bit tricky, especially if you’ve never messed around with them. However, once you know what you’re doing, an entire world of automation becomes available to you. One of my favorite Shortcuts gives you an easy way to batch delete screenshots without having to manually find them in your Photos app. It’s a huge time saver.
To create a Shortcut that can delete screenshots quickly:
Once everything is set, you’re able to run the shortcut anytime to delete all your screenshots. I usually like to do it once a month, but your mileage may vary depending on how many screenshots you take.
You canrun any shortcut quicklyby adding it to your home screen or asking Siri to run it by saying, “Hey Siri, run Delete Screenshots.”
Ensuring Shortcuts App Has Permission to Bulk Delete
By default, the Shortcuts app on the iPhone cannot delete or share content in bulk. So, if you have hundreds or even thousands of screenshots, running the shortcut may result in an error—just like it did for me initially.
Fortunately, there’s an easy fix for this. All you need to do is give the Shortcut app the necessary permission to bulk-delete content.
That’s it! With these settings adjusted, you can now delete all your old screenshots with just a tap—no errors or hassle required.
Since my iPhone only has 128GB of internal storage, I make every effort to manage it as efficiently as possible. Being able to delete old screenshots with a single tap surely helps. If you’re in the same boat, I highly recommend trying this shortcut—you’ll be surprised at how muchstorage space you can free up on your iPhone!
