Does the idea of getting professional headshots without paying for a photoshoot sound too good to be true? Well, I decided to test it out, and these are my top AI headshot generator recommendations.

LightX’s results didn’t disappoint, but I wasn’t exactly blown away either. On the homepage, you’ll find a selection of AI tools—choose the AI Headshot Generator. LightX will prompt you to import a photo from your device and then take you to the generation window.

LightX headshot generator presets

On the left panel, you may choose from a variety of headshot presets, including corporate, outdoor, office, and professional. You can also use the prompting tool to give the generator something more specific to work with. Hit Generate at the bottom and await your results.

I tried four of the presets and wasn’t too pleased with them. The one with the green jacket decreased my neck size, which looks very strange, and the one with the gray shirt looks very unnatural due to the lack of creasing. The image with the gray jacket and black shirt is the best one in my opinion, though it did add some masculine features that weren’t previously there.

I decided to try the prompting tool instead, which gave me much better results. The shirts have creases that look more natural, and it kept the size of my neck proportional to my head. At first glance, these two shots look quite good, but they still look a bit AI-generated to me. You can download your images for free with a watermark, which you can easily crop out.

The AI Ease headshot generator lives up to its name; it’s very easy to use. It doesn’t have the customization options that LightX does, but considering it’s a free tool with decent results, I’m not complaining.

Male Headshot Generated With AI Ease

On the next page you’ll be prompted to select Male or Female. I decided to give both a try to see how each one would style my picture. The Male option kept my hair short and slapped on some classy suits and ties, but it did something weird to my eyebrows—they look almost painted on. You might also have to try several times to get a hairstyle you like.

Apart from this, I like the overall results, and you’re able to download yourphotos without a watermark.

Female Headshot Generated With AI Ease

The Female option was rather disappointing as it changed everything about my features. It gave me long hair, earrings, and makeup. This might be a good option if you already have those features in your photo, but it makes for a pretty rigid headshot generator in my opinion. For example, if you have short hair and like wearing earrings and makeup, you’ll have to settle for a new long hairstyle with the Female filter.

AI Ease is a decent headshot generator if your photo already fits their apparent gender criteria. If not, it’s probably best to give it a skip.

Male Headshot Generated With Vidnoz

Then you need to select the Male or Female filter and choose a style—there are eight in total. Since this is a professional headshot generator, all of the styles involve professional attire and hairstyles, but I like that there’s at least some variety. I once again tried both the Male and Female settings, and the same thing happened as with AI Ease.

The Male option produced two decent-looking headshots; my face looks good, thephoto doesn’t have much of an AI tell, and the suits look great.

The Female option completely disregarded my short hairstyle and decided I needed lipstick and earrings. Again, this could be a nice option if you’re after those features, but I’m not a fan.

I wondered if the Male filter would do the same thing to long hair (make it short) so I decided to give it a go withthis Shutterstock image. My suspicion was proven right, it removed this guy’s golden locks. I also ran the stock image through AI Ease and it did the same thing—goodbye long hair.

You can download the results in high quality and without a watermark.

Which Is the Best Free AI Headshot Generator?

My top choice would be LightX, not because it necessarily produces the best-looking images, but because of all the other perks. LightX has a text prompting feature, which means you’re not limited to filters that will completely switch up your look. It also gives you 10 coins to spend every day, which is much more generous than the vast majority of professional AI headshot tools.

Vidnoz and AI Ease produce good results, but if your photo doesn’t already fit certain gendered appearances, they probably won’t work for you. In this case, it might be worthshooting your own headshot.

If you’re looking for a completely free headshot generator with decent results and some customization, LightX would be my top recommendation. But the other options here are also worth a try—they certainly beat spending a pretty penny on an AI headshot generator before even knowing what you will get!
