Summary
A recent update on one ofGenshin Impact5.0’s biggest Natlan leaks hints at the information being incorrect from the start, and I am thrilled about it. Natlan is the next major Nation to arrive to the action RPG by HoYoverse. Aside from an entirely new explorable region and an expanding roster of characters, the game will also see several updates, some of which have already been highly leaked, like theleaked level update inGenshin Impact’s Natlan. Other leaks have been mostly focused on the new playable units and their respective gameplay kits.
There had been leaks about three playable characters in Version 5.0, which was then confirmed by the developer. Their gameplay abilities, rarities, and preferred weapon type have not yet been officially revealed, though all this information has been shared through leaks. Kinich, for instance, is a 5-star Dendro claymore user, whereas Mualani is a 5-star Hydro catalyst character, according to the leaks. Now, even moreNatlan characters inGenshin Impacthave been revealed, though they were heavily criticized by the community due to the lack of racial representation and accusations of whitewashing in their designs.

Level 100 Leak In Genshin Impact’s Natlan Is Debunked
Rumors Are That The Initial Leak Was Not True
While the initial rumors were that Natlan’s release would implicate in the game having its character level cap increased to 100, a new update on that information has allegedly debunked the leak. According to information obtained by the leaker known as Foul, which was then shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” onReddit, the character level cap will not be increased to level 100, as was previously stated by Foul themselves. If this is true, this means that all characters will only be upgradable to level 90 inGenshin Impact, the way that they currently are.
Foul has a mixed track record of leak predictions, often being accurate in some aspects and incorrect in others.

Why The Level 100 Leak In Genshin Impact Was Terrible
Players Would Have To Grind A Lot More To Meet Natlan’s Rumored Requirements
The new update brings some ease to the minds of players, including myself. While the level 100 level cap would make characters stronger, possibly even unlocking a new Ascension Talent, and increasing the challenges posed by enemies in the world,it would also come with a large number of downsides, mostly in the form of unreasonable grinding. This is because, to get from level 90 to 100, the characters would most likely need to go through one more Ascension stage and that means farming a large quantity of extra materials inGenshin Impact, on top of what is already needed.
Currently, a 5-star character like Clorinde needs a huge sum of materials to get through all Ascension stages and to level 90. The Electro character, for instance, will use 46 Fontemer Unihorns throughout her entire process, with 20 of them being consumed in the final level 80 Ascension stage. With the required materials gradually increasing with every stage,a possible level 90 Ascension would likely require an extra 25 or 30 Fontemer Unihorns, which would then require fighting the Millennial Pearl Seahorse an extra 10 to 15 times. This is disregarding all of the otherClorinde materials inGenshin Impact.

Players would have to farm extra Vajrada Amethyst stones, more Transoceanic Pearls, more Lumitoile, more Mora, and more Character EXP Materials to complete Clorinde’s supposed level 90 Ascension and get her to level 100. If the needs in terms of quantity and quality were to continue to grow in this leaked final Ascension,we would have to spend a lot more time farming and less time actually playing through quests and other activitiesoffered by the game – especially because we would have to do this process for most of our preferredGenshin Impactcharacters rather than a single one.
Genshin Impact Made Optimizations That Led Us To Believe The Level 100 Leaks
The Optimizations Did Not Solve The Core Problems Of The Game
In addition to the initial leak itself, there have been a series of quality-of-life optimizations that led us to believe that the level 100 leak was true and that the changes would be implemented soon. The first and most notable example is thatthe respawn timer for world boss fights in the game was essentially removed, allowing players to nearly continuously challenge world bosses rather than having to wait a full two minutes or more for the boss to reappear in their arena. This update to worldbosses inGenshin Impactis much appreciated, but it seemed like a trick.
The speculation was that the prospect of continuously challenging world bosses was a way of optimizing our farming efforts for the rumored level 90 Ascension. This would allow us to waste less time while farming world boss materials, especially if the amount needed for the final threshold was well over 20 copies of a single boss item. The other big change was the increase in the Resin cap, which allows us to run more activities in a single run rather than having to log in multiple times, hours apart, to take advantage of Resin’s slow regeneration rate inGenshin Impact.

Genshin Impact 4.7’s Resin Increase Doesn’t Solve the Game’s Biggest Problem
Genshin Impact’s resin cap change feels like major progress, but it’s actually a symptom of its biggest problem instead.
Of course, none of these updates would actually target the true issues behind farming for Ascension materials. When it comes to boss materials, one of the largest problems is the low number of drops per challenge in addition to the unstable amount that comes with it. Each world boss run grants players between two and three materials, which is very low compared to how much is needed, as well as the uncertainty of how many will actually drop. On the other hand, the Resin cap doesn’t need to be increased as much as its regeneration rate needs a boost.

For instance, while Ascending Arlecchino I had 17 boss materials and needed only three more. By facing the boss, I dropped only two, forcing me to waste my Resin and time on the boss one more time. This problem is easily solved by following the model used in HoYoverse’sHonkai: Star Rail. When faced at the highest level, the bosses that drop Ascension materials always grant a fixed five copies of their items. Not only is the amount more fitting, but players know how much they will drop with each challenge and can plan how to use their resources accordingly.
InHonkai: Star Rail, the current character level cap is 80.
Additionally, the Local Resources inGenshin Impacthave a 48-hour respawn timeand, because some are very limited in terms of availability in the overworld, we often have to wait through a whole week to farm all the necessary quantities of specific materials for some characters. If the exaggerated respawn time for Local Resources were reduced, we would spend less time waiting on a whim.
There are already so many issues when it comes to farming Artifacts and the randomness of the stats they offer, as well as the high number of Talent materials, so the idea of having to undergo intense farming only to level a character up to 100 seems too punitive. Hopefully, Foul’s most recent leak is true and we don’t have to go through new Ascension stages with therelease of Natlan inGenshin Impact.
