Spoilers are ahead for The Boys season 4’s finale.
Summary
In the wake of Amazon Prime Video’sVought Risingannouncement atSan Diego Comic-Con, I don’t want Jared Padalecki inThe Boysseason 5 as much as I want him to have a substantial role in the upcoming spinoff. During SDCC,Screen Rantlearned thatThe Boys' universe is expanding with a second spinoff series. UnlikeGen V, which unfolds alongside the events ofThe Boys,Vought Risingis a prequel. Best of all,it’s confirmed that Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash will reprise their rolesasSoldier Boyand Stormfront inVought Rising, promising a star-studded outing.
So far,The Boys' creator Eric Kripke, who also made the Padalecki and Ackles-ledSupernatural, has been pretty tight-lipped aboutVought Rising’s plot. I’m excited to hear thatThe Boys' prequel will lean into its 1950s New York setting — and I’m even more thrilled thatAckles, who joined the SDCC panel, dubbed the spinoff a “lurid pulp saga prequel.“That said, I imagineVought Risingwill more than deliver, especially ifGen V’s success is any indication. It also makes me feel less pressed about Padalecki reuniting with his fellowSupernaturalalum inThe Boysseason 5.

Jared Padalecki Should Appear In Vought Rising, Not The Boys Season 5
The Boys' Prequel Allows For A More Satisfying Supernatural Reunion
Since Jensen Ackles is one of the stars ofVought Rising,I can’t help but feel that the spinoff is now the best place for Jared Padaleckito make his long-awaited cameo inThe Boys' universe. Ackles, who plays America’s first and greatest superhero, had a cameo appearance inThe Boysseason 4’s ending, and has confirmed that he’ll appear in the parent show’s fifth and final season. Still, aSupernaturalreunion seems better suited toVought Rising; Ackles' Soldier Boy is a main character in the prequel, so there’s more room to create a meta role for Padalecki.
Padalecki and Ackles' reunion in Vought Rising — a murder mystery about the supe company’s origins — seems like the perfect way to pay homage…

I knowJared Padalecki’s condition for hisThe Boyscameohas been pretty consistent and straight-forward: The Actor just needs the time to do it. Now thatWalker, a show he starred in and executive produced, has been canceled,Padalecki has been vocal about his willingness to reunite with Kripke and Ackles forThe Boys. Best known for playing demon-hunting brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, Padalecki and Ackles' reunion inVought Rising— a murder mystery about the supe company’s origins — seems like the perfect way to pay homage to the actors' pastSupernaturalroles.
10 Biggest The Boys & Gen V Reveals From SDCC 2024
Between The Boys season 5, Gen V season 2, and the announcement of a new spinoff series, the Prime Video franchise has a bright future.
The Boys Season 5 Probably Can’t Give Jared Padalecki A Major Role
The Final Season Of The Boys Has Too Much To Cover
Of course,I wouldn’t say “no” to Jared Padalecki appearing in both shows— if his character’s arc allows for it. After all, there are plenty of Compound V-enhanced supes, like Soldier Boy and Stormfront, who have looked the same for decades. However, with so much happening in the original series, andThe Boys' cast of charactersgrowing more packed by the moment, it’s hard to imagine Padalecki would have much more than a cameo inThe Boysseason 5. If Kripke really wants to do Padalecki’s long-awaited cameo justice,The Boys' prequel is a better fit.
All four seasons ofThe Boysare streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
The Boys
The Boys is a gritty and subversive take on the superhero genre, focusing on a group of vigilantes who confront powerful superheroes abusing their abilities, exploring themes of corruption and moral ambiguity in a world where heroes are not always what they seem.
