These tips mostly apply to all Samsung mobile devices from Galaxy Note 10 and newer. These phones don’t have dedicated Bixby buttons. The Samsung Galaxy S8, S9, S10, Note 8, and Note 9 have dedicated Bixby buttons that can’t be fully deactivated. However, you can remap them.

Can Bixby be removed from Samsung Galaxy phones?

you’re able to not uninstall Bixby like you can third-party apps from Samsung phones. The assistant is integrated into OneUI and is part of the user experience. It’s treated as a system app. If you want Bixby gone, you’ll either remap its button or remove your Samsung account from the device to minimize its presence and prevent it from activating.

Galaxy phones have a dedicated Bixby button or a power button for newer models. The button activates Bixby, although it’s possible to change its function to open a different app or perform another action instead of launching the assistant. Meanwhile, removing your Samsung account from your device stops the service from activating or sending notifications. Bixby is tied to the account for personalized features and settings. Removing it turns off its access to your phone.

Both methods work, and there are additional steps it’s possible to take to make sure it doesn’t interrupt your flow until you activate it yourself. You can stop its voice wake-up and advanced features or turn off its Text Call feature.

How to remap the Bixby button

If you use an older Galaxy device model, like the S8, S9, and S10 series, your phone has a dedicated Bixby button. It’s on the side, under the volume keys. Pressing it activates the assistant, but you could change its function in settings to launch a different app.

Remap the Bixby keyto avoid accidental activation. Go toSettings>Advanced featuresand selectBixby key. From there, you can assign a single press and double press action to different apps.

From there, assign apps to different press actions or only display the power off menu.

How to disable ‘Hi Bixby’ detection

In the same way that Google Assistant listens for “Hey Google,” Bixby listens for “Hi Bixby.” It’s a unique-sounding phrase, so you’re not likely to trigger it accidentally. Still, you may prefer to turn it off for complete control over when the assistant activates. Follow the steps below to do it:

How to disable Bixby’s Advanced features

As a part of its advanced features, you can command the Bixby voice assistant without saying its wake-up phrase. For example, instead of touching the phone or saying, “Hi Bixby,” say, “Answer phone.” Bixby automatically picks up the call. Sometimes, it might misinterpret background noise or casual conversation for an instruction, causing an accidental trigger.

Here’s how to turn off the advanced features to prevent it:

How to turn off Bixby Text Call

With the UI 5.1 update, Samsung offersBixby Text Call, which is similar to Google Assistant’s Call Screening feature. When a call comes in, activate Text Call and type your responses or select quick replies from predefined options. Bixby reads your messages aloud to the caller, allowing you to manage conversations without speaking. Also, you can access transcripts of the conversation for reference.

Bixby only works when you’re signed in to a Samsung account. When you aren’t using other Samsung-specific features, sign out. It turns off the assistant entirely, and you may use another one without Bixby interfering. You can’t remap it and use related functions while you’re signed out. If you’re okay with that, follow the steps below:

Now that you know how to turn off Bixby, you can set up your preferred assistant. Google Assistant is the top choice because of its consistency in voice recognition and extensive integration with various apps and services.

Another option is Gemini, although it works better as a generative AI than an assistant. It collaborates with Google Assistant for certain tasks. If you decide to use Google Assistant, take your time to learn how it works, and you’ll find thatit’s easy to useover time.

I wish they would just remove them all from devices. Key them be installed from the playstore for that that need that sort of thing.

hey Google remind me when I get home to “do whatever”. Sorry can’t do that.

Bixby remind me when I get home to “do whenever” no problem boss.

I have a pixel 8 and a Galaxy watch 7. When I an running around I always use Bixby for reminders not assistant (Gemini) because assistant has a habit of forgetting, Bixby doesn’t.

If you have a Samsung phone or tablet or watch or any of the ecosystem Bixby is incredibly useful as it integrates with all Samsung apps, many of which are better that Googles. It is not an AI line Gemini, assistant, Siri.
