What Is “Hey Disney!”?
The “Hey Disney” skill brings a huge dose of Disney to your Amazon Echo device.
You can interact with a roster of Disney icons including Dory, Anna and Olaf, C-3PO and R2D2, Rocket and Groot, The Muppets, Genie, and many more.
The skill also brings more than 140 Disney stories and a trivia game with 300 questions about everything from the house of the mouse.
Other features include Disney Soundscapes and the ability for characters to fill in for the usual Alexa tasks like providing a weather report and setting alarms. You’ll still be able to use Alexa for other tasks.
The “Hey Disney!” wake word is compatible with most Echo devices except the Echo Show 15, first-generation Echo, Echo Auto, Fire tablets, Fire TV, and on-the-go devices like the Echo Buds.
How to Enable the “Hey Disney!” Skill
You’ll go about adding “Hey Disney!” just like you wouldadd an Amazon Alexa skillto your device. It’s currently only available in the United States.
The easiest way to add the skill is just to say “Alexa, introduce me to Hey Disney.” You can also purchase the skill throughAmazon’s site.
There are two different options to pay for the skill. First, it’s available for a $5.99 yearly subscription.
It’s also free if you already subscribe to the Amazon Kids+ service which is $2.99 per month for Prime subscribers and $4.99 for non-Prime users. If you’re unaware, Amazon Kids+ is full of age-appropriate educational and entertaining content. There is also a robust set of parental controls.
