CES 2025 is in full swing. And along with some great technology, the event is full of some truly weird gadgets. Here are some of the oddest we’ve seen.
While the show was full of useful robotics, like arobot vacuum that can scale small heights, Mirumi is a different breed. The furry, and admittedly cute, robot is designed to strap to the handle of a purse or backpack. Thanks to built-in sensors, it will detect when someone is nearby and engage with others. The head will move in a number of different ways to express baby-like qualities and emotions. When you come closer to touch it, the robot will act like a shy baby and turn its head away.

If you may’t resist, Mirumi will be available starting in mid-2025 through a crowdfunding campaign. It should be around $70 and available in gray or pink.
Kirin Electric Salt Spoon
There’s no need to pass the salt when using the Kirin Electric Salt Spoon. This gadget uses a small electric current to concentrate the taste of salt and umami in foods. The company says that using the spoon can actually increase the saltiness of foods—and there are four saltiness settings to select from.
The salt spoon is on sale in Japan for around $125. Kirin is looking to expand the spoon globally in the upcoming years.

If you don’t have a green thumb, LeafyPod may scare you. The device is a smart planter that uses AI to help water the plant correctly and provide real-time notification on the plant’s health. It even connects with Amazon Alexa and Google Home to become part of a smart home ecosystem. What makes the system weird is that using the built-in app can notify you if it needs more light, water, or something else. I get enough notifications throughout the day. The last thing I want to see is my plants telling me they are on the road to a slow and agonizing death.
You can pre-order the LeafyPod starting at$148 for a single planter. Orders are expected to arrive starting in April.

LG AeroCat Tower
There were a number of greatnew gadgets for pets unveiled at CES. The weird LG AeroCat Tower offers something for you and a feline friend. Along with an air purifier for your home, it doubles as a comfortable cat perch. Built-in sensors can keep track of a cat’s weight and how long they have slept. When a cat climbs into bed, the air purifier will automatically turn down to minimize noise.
LG didn’t provide any retail price or availability information.
