Summary
The rumored number of Pyroculi inGenshin Impact’s Natlan region has been mentioned in Version 5.0 leaks, indicating that players could either be gifted or cursed when it comes to exploration in the upcoming Nation. Natlan is coming with Version 5.0 in the next major update to the turn-based RPG by HoYoverse. The region will bring with it the continuation of the main Archon quests as the Traveler roams the land in search of their lost sibling, as well as handle a local crisis. Of course, thenew Natlan characters inGenshin Impactare also a highly anticipated new addition.
In addition to the playable characters, there are rumors that the new region will also come with unique gameplay mechanics, including mounts and something that is being rumored to be called Night Spirit, which can affect both gameplay and exploration. Natlan is expected to be a huge region, about the size of Fontaine, for instance, but only the first portions of the map have leaked so far, making the comparison a bit more difficult. Nevertheless, there has been a leak about the number of Pyroculi in theGenshin Impactregion that could offer better insight into what players can expect.

Number Of Pyroculi In Genshin Impact’s Natlan Region Has Leaked
Rumors Indicate The Same Number Of Collectibles Present In Fontaine & In Sumeru
The number of Pyroculi from the entire Natlan region, not just the first area from Version 5.0, has allegedly leaked. According to information from the leaker known as HomDGCat, which was then shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” onReddit, there is a total of 271 Pyroculi in the Natlan region. The leaker has a track record of being accurate and, while they do not specify exactly if this is referent to the entire area, this is the exact same number of Oculi present in both Fontaine and Sumeru, the two regions that came beforeNatlan inGenshin Impact.
Natlan Region Could Be Just As Well-Designed As Fontaine In Genshin Impact
The Nation Of Hydro’s World Design Is Superb
The number of Pyroculi being the same number of those that are available in Fontaine is an excellent sign, asthe Nation of Hydro is one of the most well-designed regions of the game. Not only is it immense, giving players a load of explorable area and playable content, such as combat challenges and puzzles, but things in Fontaine are well spread. Aside from water surfaces, which are just entrances to the underwater portions of the game, there is no area withinGenshin Impact’s Fontaine region that feels empty and dull.
The Nation of Justice is rich in playable content and Natlan could very well learn from its predecessor, even if the Nation of Pyro may not have half of its playable area split into underwater sections. The rumored number of Pyroculi in Natlan being the same as Hydroculi in Fontaine does indicate that the upcoming region will be large, especially given HoYoverse’s intention of providing continuous hours of gameplay per Nation, which started getting a lot larger over the years. So far all of the regions ofGenshin Impacthave expanded in some way or form.

Mondstadt, the smallest of them all, grew to receive the Dragonspine mountain, whereas Liyue later received The Chasm and, most recently, Chenyu Vale. Inazuma gradually expanded after its release, as did Sumeru and Fontaine after it. Of course, Sumeru and Fontaine currently lead as the largest playable areas in the entire game. Nevertheless, the positive aspect of Fontaine is one that was achieved after a fair share of previous mistakes, made by both Inazuma and Sumeru – with the latter being the one Nation ofGenshin Impactwith the largest problems when it comes to its world design.

The popular action RPG by HoYoverse is getting larger with each expansion, but its overload of content is not its main problem: it’s farming.
Natlan’s Can’t Repeat Sumeru’s Map Mistakes In Genshin Impact
The Nation Of Dendro’s Large Map Is Often Empty
The main problem that stands out with a nation of this size, as exemplified by the release of Sumeru, is that the area can be too big.The largest problem with Sumeru’s overall world design is the fact that it is often too large and, at the same time, too empty. The rainforest sections of the Nation of Wisdom suffer less from this, but the large desert portion is the grand example of how tough exploration can become, and not due to challenging puzzles or encounters. The Great Red Sand is located to the west ofSumeru inGenshin Impact.
This region within Sumeru is vast and represents over half of what the nation occupies on the map. Contrarily, the amount that is actually available to play through is much less significant. The area does have underground segments that avoid the scarcity problem, but when roaming through the desert above ground, players can often spend minutes running through the sands without encountering anything worthwhile stopping for. This, of course, is an obvious design choice to reflect what a desert truly feels like, but it occupies a massive landmass inGenshin Impact’s map and, of course, hard drive space.

This is especially true when players haven’t yet unlocked all teleport waypoints and have to manually reach their destinations.
This issue may have been noticed by HoYoverse, as the last few desert regions in Sumeru,Gavireh Lajavard and Realm of Farakhkert are much smaller and the elements within are a lot more concentrated. This, in turn, provides a more engaging and straightforward gameplay experience that doesn’t put players on a boring roaming session. While the rainforest mostly avoids this problem, it does also occasionally suffer from it. There are some portions of it that feel needlessly bland and, even with enemy encounters, it can be tedious to explore compared to other regions inGenshin Impact.

Of course, the developer seems to have learned its lesson, as Fontaine is delicately well-designed, especially when it comes to spreading enticing content. Surely, there are areas that may feel empty, as is the case with any region, but nothing as severe as Sumeru. If the number of Pyroculi are reflective of Fontaine’s design, players will not only get a huge area to explore, but also a fun one with new exciting enemies and challenges to overcome. If it is reflective of Sumeru’s design, then players may be in for some trouble.
What Region Is After Natlan In Genshin Impact?
The Traveler and Paimon’s next region in Teyvat after Natlan is the frozen Snezhnaya, where they will confront the Tsaritsa and the Fatui.
For now, the leaks should be taken with an extra grain of salt, as they may be incorrect or simply subject to change ahead of the official release. The leak, however, seems on par with how HoYoverse has been handling its nation’s releases and their scale throughout each game year. Hopefully, Natlan will follow Fontaine’s example in world design and avoid most of Sumeru’s mistakes, leading to a rich new nation inGenshin Impact.
