A Reddit post byEmergencyailolirecounts a random invasion in whichanother player appeared in their game, dropped multiple stacks each of various types of consumable runes, then disappeared without a word. That includes 99 stacks ofMarika’s Runes, which are worth 80,000 runes each. Combined with the hundreds of other runes, that sends the grand total skyrocketing over 8,000,000 runes. Other commenters compared them to generous figures of myth, like Santa Claus or Robin Hood.

What Can You Do With Millions Of Runes?
This gift of runes completely changes the gamefor the player who received them, allowing them to enjoy a completely different playstyle. Of course, it’d be tempting to just run to the nearest Site of Grace, pop every single one of them, and level up to their heart’s content. That’d certainly put them at theright level to completeShadow of the Erdtreewith ease, and then some. With the leftover runes, they could upgrade all their weapons to max level, or stock up on tons of consumables and crafting materials.
It takes 1,692,566,842 runes to go from level one to the maximum level of 713, so get grinding!
But there’s another route the player can take to use up all these runes. What primarily differentiates these consumable runes from the ones players pick up each time they defeat an enemy (apart from the fact that they can be gifted), is that they aren’t dropped on death. Sothis player could theoretically level up at a regular pace as they explored the world and defeated bosses, while never worrying about losing their runes again. If they got stuck in an unlucky spot and lost everything, they could simply use the equivalent number of consumable runes to make up for their loss.

Other players took the time to wonder just how the mysterious magnate managed to source all these runes.Some speculated that they might’ve used an exploit, likeElden Ring’s item duplication glitch, in order to grab these ill-gotten gains.
Whatever the case, it’s still a pretty harmless venture. Hackers used similar strategies to troll players inDark Souls2, invading them and dropping hacked items that would either crash their games or get their accounts banned, potentially preventing them from using online services and effectively destroying their save files. Butno one’s experience is actively harmed by receiving millions of runes. If they don’t want to use them in order to preserve a challenging balance, they can simply let them rot in their inventory, or even regift them to another unsuspecting player.
