Since 2023, Duolingo has offered iOS users Math and Music courses alongside the host of language-learning courses. Now, finally, the Math and Music courses are also rolling out to the Android app. So, there’s now no excuse to not know that 2 + 2 = 4.
Duolingo Brings Music and Math to Android
Ahead of Duocon 2024, the Math and Music courses that have beenavailable on iOS since October 2023started rolling out to Android users. If you can’t see them in the course picker yet, just update the Duolingo app to gain access to them.
Even if you don’t go looking for them, the next time you use Duolingo, you may see a popup introducing you to the two new courses, and inviting you to start learning.
The Math and Music courses should be available to start at any time from theCourse Pickerfound in the top left corner of the app. Tap it, then tap on the+ Courseicon. Duo will ask you what you want to learn, and you’ll find theMusicandMathcourses alongside French, Spanish, German, and all the other languages that Duolingo has offered for years.
Adding New Skills Beyond Languages
Duolingo’s Math course is designed to appeal to both children and adults alike. There’s aBeginnersection packed full of “foundational skills for kids,” and anIntermediatesection with “more challenging exercises” designed to “enhance everyday skills”.
Duolingo’s Music course has been designed with allcomers in mind. Before commencing, you’ll be asked about your experience level, and you may then choose Section 1 or Section 2 as your starting point.Section 1asks you to “play your first notes and songs,” whileSection 2has you “play songs with white keys”.
While the Music and Math courses are different from the standard language courses due to the skills being taught, they utilize the same basic lesson structure andgamified learning experience. Which means they look and feel both familiar and new at the same time.
