Dragon Ball Daimahas been steadily rolling along, building the wondrous world of the Demon Realm while the main cast make their way to the First Demon World in search of the Dragon Balls. The anime’s most recent episode #14, titled “Taboo”, finally sees Goku and friends reach the elusive world, bringing all the show’s main pieces to the same place all at once. With the series making it a point to remind the audience that Arinsu, Kuu, and Duu are also present, it seemsDaimais ready to move into its final section.

Alongside the anime’s conclusion will come what fans suspect will bethe most visually striking combatDragon Ballhas ever featured in a TV anime. Given the series' readiness to point out the medi-bugs Goku purchased earlier in his latest adventure, it’s likely that any large-scale combat will lead to fusion. And though Shin is around to lend his Potara earrings to Vegito, there’s a strong chance thatwhatever upcoming fusionDaimahas in storewill be all-new to the franchise.

Dragon Ball Daima Has Teased Fusion From Its Earliest Moments

Mention of Fusion Has Been Sprinkled Throughout the Anime Since the Beginning

Though confirmation of a brand-new fusion won’t come until one is introduced,Dragon Ball Daimahas been hinting towards it since the series' very first episode. Prior to the wish that turned the main cast into children, everyone with a major role in the Majin Buu Saga was present at a party for Trunks. There, the anime very subtly slipped mention of the fusions between both Goku and Vegeta, and Shin and Kibito.

Dragon Ball Daima Finally Explains One Of Super’s Biggest Plot Holes

Dragon Ball Daima finally explains how Supreme Kai and Kibito defuse, but also rewrites established Dragon Ball canon in the process.

It might be tempting to think of this as an attempt to address the reason the two Kais defused, but it wouldn’t take long for the topic to come up again. Later, when first touching down in the Demon Realm,Goku purchased different medi-bugs. One type worked like a Senzu Bean, while the other was used for fusion. Not much focus was given to the purchase early on, though the series has taken every opportunity toremind the audience that these bugs are in Goku’s possession. It’s reasonable to assume if a fusion wasn’t planned down the line,Daimawould not have continuously mentioned the topic.

There Are Several Possibilities For a New Fusion

Characters Other Than Goku and Vegeta May Be Fusing

The two likeliest candidates for the franchise’s next fusion are and always will be Goku and Vegeta, thoughDragon Ball Daimamay have something unexpected in store. When the Join Bugs were shown earlier in the series, they were accompanied by a signwhich showed three fighters joining together. A three-person fusion is new territory forDragon Ball, and can lead to some incredibly exciting possibilities. Combining Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo would make an incredibly powerful fighter, while joining with Glorio would give them access to magic.

If Goku and Vegeta are the only two characters fusing, however, chances are high thatthey will combine to create an all-new character anyway. Vegito is unique to the Potara earrings, while Gogeta is unique to the fusion dance. A fusion via Join Bug will almost certainly lead to a different fighter than the franchise has seen before, adding one more to the decades-old argument about what fusion is strongest.

Daima Has Finally Brought Its Main Characters Together

All the Important Pieces to the Story Are Currently in the First Demon World

Dragon Ball Daimahas spent the majority of its run-time with each of the main cast of characters in separate settings. Throughout the journey, Team Goku and Team Vegeta eventually joined forces, while Arinsu’s Majin Squad were off pursuing the Dragon Balls on their own. For the first time, however, every one of the series' prominent characters are in the same place at the same time, signaling thatDaimais ready to jump more into action-heavy episodes.

Dragon Ball Daima Introduces the Anime’s New Ginyu Squad

Dragon Ball Daima just introduced a new group of villains who are an obvious callback to the classic Ginyu Force seen in Dragon Ball Z.

With action will almost certainly come fusion, and the possibilities are endless for whom or what may be on the horizon. The anime might even subvert expectations entirely, and have Kuu and Duu fuse into the ultimate villain.Dragon Ball Daimahas been an incredibly enjoyable return to the franchise’s adventurous roots, introducing a setting and characters that could only have come from Akira Toriyama. There aren’t many episodes left, so fans will want to catch up as soon as possible before the real action begins.
