Carnage vs. Meridius! It has all lead up to this. Like many gods before him, in order to step into his full power, Carnage must destroy his own creator. Who will walk away from this fight? And in what form?

Carnage has proven himself to be a God-Butcher on par with Gorr, someone perfectly capable of slaughtering anyone in his path, gods included. Now, it seems that Carnage wants to prove his divinity by killing the person he hates most. Instead of going after the regular Eddie Brock that Carnage has been fighting for years, he’s instead turned his attention to Meridius, the strongest King in Black. And because Meridius is a future version of Eddie Brock/Venom, the symbiote who created Carnage, this essentially makes this a war between father and son.

Venom’s Horrifying Future Is Finally Revealed (Buckle Up)

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Venom, the King in Black Eddie Brock learns the horrible truth about his future and the fate of his son Dylan.

Carnage has become obsessed with murdering gods to prove his own divinity. While he’s tried to murder Eddie Brock for years, it seems he can finally complete both his goals of killing a god and slaying Eddie by targeting Meridius.Meridius is a temporal off-shoot of Eddie Brock, someone who has lived for millennia as the King in Black. No version of Eddie fits the definition of a god better than Meridius. While Carnage is absurdly deadly, it’s unclear if he’ll actually be able to beat Meridius this time,as it will be the second time they’ve fought.

Comic book page: Carnage bursts out of Meridius, akin to a xenomorph chestburster.

Carnage easily defeated Meridius the first time they met, afterCarnage used the All-Blood Spearand attacked Meridius when he wasn’t expecting it. Now, Meridius will have had time to prepare, and it’s unlikely someone as intelligent and manipulative as Meridius will be taken by surprise twice. While Carnage has always been adept at slaughtering others, long-term plans have never really been his strong suit, and Carnage doesn’t have the best track record against Eddie in general. When facing off against an Eddie who has existed formillennia,Carnage may have finally picked a fight he can’t win.

Carnage Defeated Meridius Once, But Can He Do It Again?

Despite taking Meridius by surprise, Carnage wasn’t able to actually kill him. This brings into question if Carnage is even strong enough to kill Meridius in the first place. Meridius has spent thousands upon thousands of years manipulating events to escape his fate, and he hasfarmore combat skills and knowledge than the version of Eddie Carnage is used to going up against. This dramatic fight againstVenom’s most powerful form may be one battle thatCarnagejust isn’t equipped to win.

Venom War: Carnage#3will be available October 23 from Marvel Comics.
