While we don’t know much about the next-generation Nintendo Switch, the company has just provided some great news for current Switch gamers.
Switch 2 Will Be Backward Compatible With Switch Games
On X, the company announced that Nintendo Switch games will be playable on the next-generation console.
In the post, the company indicated that the popular Nintendo Switch Online service will also be available on the new console.

That’s great news for Switch users who will be able to still enjoy games on the new console without needing to shell out additional cash.
Not much is known about the specs of the new console. Nintendo should announce the Switch 2 before August 20, 2025. We will likely see a large build up for a push during the Holiday 2025 season.

It shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that Switch games will be playable on the new console. Since the Switch has such an amazing roster of games, not being able to play them on the Switch 2 could stop many gamers from making the upgrade.
Waiting Is the Hardest Part
While I’m interested to see what the Switch 2 has to offer, I’m just fine sitting back andenjoying my original Switch and huge roster of games.
My family and I are much more casual gamers than hardcore fans of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. And the Switch has always been our go-to console for gaming fun. Being able to take the console on the go has made long car rides and plane trips much more enjoyable.
If you’re looking for something new from Nintendo while waiting for the Switch 2, there’s a different kind of hardware you may buy now. Released last month,Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo is an alarm clockthat can wake you up with themes from popular Switch games like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, and more.
