In the final scenes of the third season,Will is kidnapped by members of Geoffrey’s old gang, with his fate left unknown.Bel-Airseason 3 also set up Aunt Viv’s storyline for the fourth season since she found out she was pregnant.

The fourth season of Bel-Air has an opportunity to create one of Will Smith’s saddest scenes from the 1990 sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
During her honeymoon with Lamarcus, Hilary’s husband passed out, and it’s unclear whether he is alive or not. Another storyline that isn’t finished involves Carlton. In the finale ofBel-Airseason 3, Carlton’s girlfriend,Amira, decided to go to a rehab center that specializes in drug addiction that is caused by grief. With all of these plot points still on the table, it’s good news thatBel-Airwill have a final season instead of just being canceled as is the norm with TV shows these days, as the show has an opportunity to give each character a fitting ending.

WhileBel-Airis a reboot and has borrowed several plotlines fromThe Fresh Prince, it hasn’t directly copied from the original show. InThe Fresh Prince’s season finale, Carlton went off to study at Princeton, Hilary and Ashley moved to New York, Aunt Viv, Uncle Phil, and Nicky moved to Boston, and Will remained in LA so he could attend college. It’s obviously not going to be possible forBel-Airseason 4 to use all the story arcs fromThe Fresh Prince, but that doesn’t mean it cannot be inspired by the sitcom.
The Fresh Princegave its characters a proper send-off, and the same could be true for the reboot. However, given that they are completely different shows,Bel-Aircould go in another direction. After Aunt Viv’s pregnancy announcement, her marriage with Uncle Phil might be strained andBel-Airseason 4 can explore how the couple will deal with that and having a new addition to the family.Hilary’s story arc in season 3 ended on a sad note, and season 4 can highlight how she will handle her griefand whether she will end up with Jazz after she heals.

Carlton is also dealing with his own heartbreak after Amira left, so before he goes to college, he needs to learn how to control his emotions while simultaneously being in charge of a successful business. Ashley also has an opportunity to figure out what she wants in the upcoming season. InFresh Prince,Will had a difficult time coming to terms with having achieved less than his cousins.Bel-Airseason 4 could use that storyline, but differentiate itself by showing how far Will has come since leaving Philadelphia and also having Lou be a big part of his life.
