Today, millions of people in the US will be headed to the polls to vote as Election Day 2024 arrives. Regardless of which presidential candidate you’re favoring, vice president Kamala Harris or former president Donald Trump, Apple is making it easier to keep tabs on what will certainly be an exciting presidential race.

According to Apple Insider, beginning late on Tuesday, you’ll be able to track the results of the presidential election via Apple’s Live Activity feature.

Get Election 2024 Results on Your iPhone

Apple’s Live Activity feature isn’t new. If you have an iPhone model with the Dynamic Island, you’ve likely seen activities popping up in it at the top of your screen. On iPad and older iPhone models, Live Activities appear on your Lock Screen instead. Normally, you use Live Activities to play music or monitor active calls. There are also several excellent apps that support Live Activitiesif you’re curious about what the feature can do.

For Election Day 2024, however, Apple will be offering an interactive widget showing continued electoral count updates for both presidential candidates. The feature will be available for all iPhone and iPad devices that support Live Activities; you’ll also have access to the electoral count on your Apple Watch.

iPhones running iOS 16.1 or later, and iPads running iPadOS 17 or later, should have access to the Live Updates election functionality. If you’re someone who wants to monitor coverage as soon as it happens, it may be useful to set the widget up before the election results start rolling in. That way you don’t miss any important updates.

How to Activate the US Election 2024 Live Activity Widget

To activate the election Live Activity, you’ll first open the Apple News app. Then, tap theFollow the 2024 Election Livebanner. Doing so should show a notification asking to use the Live Activity widget on your iPhone lock screen. TapFollow Liveto enable it.

If you can’t find the widget for some reason, check underTop Storiesor open theElection 2024 Special Coveragesection of the Apple News app menu. If you feel the results and constant election updates are nothing but frustrating, you can disable coverage by tapping on the banner a second time.

While it’s unclear how long Apple intends to offer access to results, it’s great to have access to up-to-date electoral counts. Personally, I feel Apple’s Live Activity feature is a useful way to stay informed and avoid potential bias from social media as the 2024 presidential race heats up.
