Summary
After having led the first four movies in the franchise, Anna Faris reveals her conditions to return for theScary Moviereboot. Originally developed by Keenen Ivory, Shawn and Marlon Wayans, the movie series has served as a parody of some of the biggest horror movies of their respective years, ranging from theScreamandI Know What You Did Last Summer-driven first movie toHouse on Haunted Hill,Signs,The RingandThe Grudge, among many others. Over a decade after the poor response to the fifth installment, it was announced that Paramount was developingaScary Movierebootfor a late 2025 release.
During a recent interview withPEOPLEfor her role inMy Spy: The Eternal City, Faris was asked whether she would be interested in returning for theScary Moviereboot. The actor confirmed that she would be open to returning to the horror-comedyfranchise, though had two major conditions for doing so, including the return of another original actor. See what Faris said below:

I would love to reprise [my role]. I would love to work with Regina again. I just love her so much. We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!
Faris & Hall’s Scary Movie Returns Could Work (Thanks To A Recent Horror Hit)
Even after the shift in creative direction from the Wayans brothers toAirplane!’s David Zucker, futureLast of Usco-creator Craig Mazin andThe Naked Gun’s Pat Proft,Faris and Regina Hall still remained the faces oftheScary Moviefranchiseas original final girl Cindy Campbell and her best friend Brenda Meeks. Unlike Cindy, though, Hall’s character fell victim to the foes of both the first and third movies, with the second and fourth installments humorously shrugging off her demises and bringing her back to their respective stories.
The first threeScary Movieinstallments are available to stream on Max.
While the newScary Movieis being described as a reboot of the franchise, should it instead serve as a revival primarily focused on new characters, this could open the door for both Faris and Hall to return. Prior to the 2022 movie’s release,Screamwas inconsistently reported to be both a revival and a continuation. Upon its arrival, it was ultimately confirmed to be a fourth sequel and saw the returns ofNeve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox’s Gale Weathers, David Arquette’s Dewey Riley, Marley Shelton’s Judy Hicks, Skeet Ulrich’s Billy Loomis and Heather Matarazzo’s Martha Meeks.
10 Horror Movies We Can’t Wait To See Parodied In Scary Movie’s Reboot
A reboot of Scary Movie is in the works and, from Midsommar to Talk to Me, there are plenty of recent horror films that are ripe for parody.
Given theScary Moviereboot is coming in the wake of theScreamfranchise’s successful revival, it seems likely the film will parody the recent installments to some degree, and, as such, could pull from their playbook to bring Faris and Hall back. Whether the original actors return for nostalgic cameos or to pass the torch on to a new generation, it would be a fun way to tie the movies together. WithScreamstar Melissa Barrera also expressing an eagerness to join the reboot, the nextScary Moviecould deliver many hilarious twists on the final girl trope.
