Hal Jordan explains to his fellow Corpsmen that the last time he tried to make a stand against Thaaros, his life was saved byCarol Ferris, his on-and-off love interest. Carol then transforms into Star Sapphire and declares,“I guess I’m a superhero now.”

Star Sapphire has come a long wayover the years, from trying to kill Green Lantern to fighting by his side on the universe’s behalf.She’s officially been recognized as a superhero here,and it won’t be long before this former supervillain stands with the Justice League.

Carol Ferris' relationship with her Star Sapphire persona is about as unstable as her fickle love affair with Hal Jordan. As recently asGreen Lantern#1 by Jeremy Adams and Xermánico, Carol had sworn off using her Star Sapphire powers and resigned herself to an ordinary life as the owner of Ferris Aircraft. Then, everything changes whenGreen Lantern returns to Earthand fills her with a longing for the extraordinary. She calls off her marriage with Nathan Broome -unknowingly turning him into a “Sorrow Lantern”- andequips her Star Sapphire ring, flying to Green Lantern’s rescue in his time of need.

She overcame her obsession with Hal and became an official member of the Star Sapphire Corps, one of manyLantern Corps powered by the Emotional Spectrum. Since then, she’s fought by Green Lantern’s side when circumstances call for it, such as duringBlackest Nightby Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis. Still, Star Sapphire never considered herself a hero before, and she’s certainly never been recognized by the Justice League as one.
