Summary
The First Descendantis filled with a colorful cast of playable Descendants, each with their own unique equipment and abilities to master. Like its closest rivalWarframe,The First Descendantallows players to collect the materials to craft every Descendant and their Ultimate form. These can bepurchased with the in-game currency Caliber, but besides spending unnecessary money, this is purely speeding up progression.
In lore, Descendants are the actual descendants of the first humans to gain powers. These powers are known as Arche abilities and are unique to each Descendant. Sometimes, they will form based on an existing element and other times; they will be focused on a specific theme. In this regard, they are closer toDestiny’s Guardians, minus immortality, whereas Warframes are separate suits operated by the player character.

The roadmap for The First Descendant is here, and it offers a helpful look at what players can expect in a basic capacity throughout the rest of 2024.
14Lepic (DPS)

Lepic is one of currently five Descendants that have an Ultimate form, which is a super buffed version of the character. Hispassive skill is called Close Call, which gives him a chance to survive fatal damage.
The key part of Lepic’s kit is his second active skill,Overclock, which will increase the damage and Burn effect of his other abilities. His Grenade ability will launch a strong grenade from his arm, whereas his Traction Grenade ability will launch a grenade that does not deal damage but pulls enemies into a center point. The Ultimate ability,Overkill, will launch a powerful shellthat will do initial damage and stick to its target to deal more damage over time.

The First Descendant: How To Play With Friends (Multiplayer Guide)
Playing with friends makes The First Descendant much more enjoyable as that is the intended way this looter shooter is meant to be played.
13Ajax (Tank)
Ajax is a non-attribute character and also one of the starter Descendants. Whether in Ultimate form or not, Ajax is always adorned in his Raley MK. 5 Void Energy Battlesuit, which massively increases his defensive capabilities. Ajax’s passive skill allows him to build up Void Energy after using skills and once that energy maxes out, it will enhance his skills.
The key to Ajax’s buildis his Orbit Barrier frontal shield and Hypercube Ultimate shield. Both of these scale off his HP and DEF and will reflect damage to enemies if enhanced. Ajax’s first damage ability is Void Walk, a giant leap that will stun enemies on impact and increase his max shield if enhanced. The other ability, Expulsion, is a more powerful melee that will knock back enemies. When enhanced, Expulsion will increase max shield and knockback distance.

12Viessa (Debuffer)
Viessa is the last starter Descendant and uses the Chill attribute. Her role is more of a debuffer than can chip in damage with the use of her Arche Refrigerant Release Drone. Like the other starting characters, she also has an Ultimate form. Viessa’s passive makes it so her abilities inflict the Ice Shackle debuff, which slows enemy movement speed; she will summon a small glacial orb that will follow her around and periodically deal damage.
Viessa’s first ability, Frost Shards, will launch an ice shard that explodes on impact or at max range, dealing damage and inflicting Ice Shackle. This is similar to her other ability, Cold Snap, which sends forward a wide but short-ranged wave of ice. Her one utility ability is Frost Road, which increases her shield and movement speed while creating ice sheets on the floor that inflict the debuff. Finally, her ultimate Blizzard sends out her drone to create a powerful ice storm that damages and debuffs any enemy in its radius.

11Jayber (Utility Dealer)
Jayber is another non-attribute Descendant and perfect for players who like to fortify positions while playing from cover. His equipment piece, theArche-Sensitive Electronic Network System controls the two turretshis kit revolves around. These turrets are also heavily involved in his passive, which gives Jayber an attack boost when both are active.
Jayber’s first turret is the Assault Turret which fires like a standard rifle, but when enhanced it will use area attacks. The second is theMedical Turret, which will heal allies in range and refill Manawhen enhanced. Jayber’s third ability is the key to his cycle, changing his gun to a Multi-Purpose rifle that enhances the turrets when shot. Finally, hisUltimate will recall the turrets while dealing massive damageand allowing them to be instantly redeployed in their enhanced state.

10Sharen (Close-Range Dealer)
Sharen is the leader of the Descendant’s intelligence unit and an Electric attribute character. Her kit revolves around her cyberneticArche Drive Full-Body Prosthetic Colon:00 suit. Sharen fills the role of a close-range assassin which is where her passive comes in, resetting her second ability upon a kill in her Ambush state.
Her first ability, Cutoff Beam, uses an electrified blade to slash forward, leaving any enemies not killed Electrified. Active Camouflage makes Sharen invisible, with any attack breaking this and putting her in an Ambush state. The next ability, Impact Rounds, launches small Electric grenades to stun enemies. Lastly, Sharen’s Ultimate, Flash Shortsword, propels a series of knives out at enemies and explodes for further Electric damage.

9Gley (Utility Dealer)
Gley is the perfect example of a berserker while being another non-attribute Descendant. Her entirekit revolves around sacrificing her health and then restoring it. This is doable by her passive which spawns health orbs when killing enemies, and her Variable Arche Firearm “Massacre.”
Frenzied will absorb some of Gley’s health and put her into Beserk mode, increasing weapon damage past a certain range. Life Siphon causes any damage Gley does to restore missing health, doing more damage in Beserk mode. Increased Sensory will grant her infinite ammo in Berserk mode, and increased movement speed and health recovery when not.Gley’s Ultimate, Massacre, morphs her gun into its other form, increasing damage and stunning enemies on hit.

8Blair (DoT Dealer)
Blair is another Fire attribute Descendant and relies on having his abilities used as often as possible. He iscapable of emitting a highly flammable gas through his fingers, ignited by his Incendiary Pyric Release gloves. The reason he wants to cycle through his abilities is due to his passive Pitmaster. This gives him buffs to critical damage on burning enemies and increases critical chance depending on how many active Stoves, small semi-turrets that deal fire damage, he has.
Blaze Up, ability one, will set enemies in a radius on fire and create one Stove. Blair’s utility ability is Extinguish, which recalls all active Stoves to restore Mana and increase defense. Burn Taste will launch a series of flames that deal heavy damage and a stronger Burn effect. Finally, theDeadly Cuisine Ultimate fires a large fireball that will split into smaller charges on impact.

7Bunny (Nuker)
Bunny is the poster girl ofThe First Descendantas well as the first character players will be able to acquire. She is another Electric attribute Descendant who revolves around herpassive Rabbit Foot, where any movement charges electricity. This electricity is stored in her Biopower Conversion Device Suit, which can then be used in her other abilities.
Bunny’s signature ability, and the only one that consumes Mana, is Light Speeding, which increases her sprint speed to increase the electricity charge. Thrill Bomb consumes electricity to deal chaining Electric damage based on how much electricity Bunny has. Whereas Lightning Emission will create a ring of electricity that occasionally shocks any enemies in its radius. Lastly, her Ultimate ability,Maximum Power, uses any electricity charge to shoot out a powerful beam, dealing more damage the longer it is active.

6Freyna (DoT Dealer)
Freyna is currently the only Toxic attribute Descendant and is a great all-around character. Her key equipment is a Neutralization Suit that prevents her toxic Arche power from harming those around her. Freyna’s passive, Contagion Links, works similarly to Blair’s, increasing her skill damage based on how many enemies are poisoned.
Her first ability is Toxic Trauma, launching a small bolt of toxins that inflict the poison debuff Room 0 Trauma. This is coupled with the abilityDecomposed Poison to create a puddle of toxinsthat debuffs enemies and spreads to others near the infected. Defense Mechanism is Freyna’s survivability skill, significantly increasing her defense. Finally, theVenomous Baptism Ultimate equips a modified gun that inflicts Room 0 Trauma on impact.

5Valby (Constant DPS)
Valby is classified as a non-attribute Descendant, but herkit is completely revolved around water. Valby, with her Arche-Hydro Symbiosuit, is a hybrid DPS/Support option and has excellent synergy with Bunny or Sharen. This is due to her debuff Laundry which makes enemies take increased Electric damage. To go with this, her passive Water Intake reduces how much Mana she needs to spend on casting skills when standing in water.
Bubble Bullet will shoot out a bouncy bubble that creates a damaging pool on the explosion and where Valby is standing. The second ability, Plop Plop, has her dive into a large puddle and emerge at a location to leave the high-damage puddle behind. Ability three puts Valby into a liquefied state that increases her defense and movement speed and leaves behind a damaging water trail. Valby’sUltimate equips her Laundry Bomb launcher that will fire a single shot that pulls in and damages any enemies inflicted with the Laundrydebuff.
