Two of the images feature Comer sporting a new look, one that speaks to the harsh conditions of post-apocalyptic life. She’s seen running in one and looking fairly ominously at the camera in the other. The other two images provide a look at two younger actors in the production, with Boyle pictured chatting with them in one. The older of the two male actors is decked out in full military gear, and the NATO patch on his arm identifies him as a character named E. Sundqvist.

For years after the release of28 Weeks Later, which wasn’t as well-received as its predecessor, there were reports of a potential third film. This film, at the time, presumably would’ve been28 Months Later, which would have presented a version of Britain more than two years after the virus outbreak. By jumping instead to28 Years Later,Garland and Boyle have given themselves the freedom to bring a vastly different setting to life.

Because Murphy is reprising his role, this new timeline makes more sense than28 Months Latersince it’s now been 22 years since audiences last saw the actor as Jim.
